The Castle Cottage Includes two cozy bedrooms with queen memory foam mattresses and a common sitting room with a Flat Screen TV and a queen sofa sleeper. There is also a bathroom with a shower and an eat-in kitchen, plus a private outdoor terrace with the most spectacular views of Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains!
The Castle Cottage sleeps up to 6-guests. You provide the Fairy Tale and we'll provide the Castle... Whether it’s time with family & friends, honeymoon, royal vacation retreat, birthday or anniversary celebration, proposal location, girls' weekend getaway, or any "experience" you can envision! Poised on a graceful mountaintop, a castle awaits you... Our 3-Castles & Suites sleep up to 21-guests: 1) The Castle Cottage (sleeps 4-6). 2) The Castle Gatehouse (sleeps 4-7). 3) Highlands Castle (*sleeps 4-8) *The Royal Bedroom in Highlands Castle (sleeps 2). *The King's Suite in Highlands Castle (sleeps 2-6). You'll have 'The Castle Cottage' all to yourself and will only share it with those you're traveling with.

HIGHLANDS CASTLE sleeps 4-8-guests is located steps away from 'The Castle Cottage' and offers two (2) bedroom suites: 'The Royal Bedroom' sleeps 1-couple and 'The King's Suite' sleeps 2-6 guests. 2.) THE CASTLE GATEHOUSE sleeps up to 4-7 guests and is nestled in a wooded setting at the entrance to our property.

Policies
Renter is responsible for your guest(s) to adhere to all 'POLICIES' of Highlands Castle.
NO SMOKING, VAPING, and CANDLES are allowed inside or outside the property and Renter agrees that their credit card will be charged a $500 penalty if this policy is not adhered to.
Highlands Castle does not allow a bachelor party or any rowdy, loud, disruptive, or unruly gathering.
Highlands Castle is not suitable for amplified music or a DJ.
Renter agrees to respect a quiet time from 9pm to 9am in consideration to neighbors or other guests.
NO EXTRA PERSON can be on property during your rental period that is not confirmed on your reservation and Renter agrees your credit card will be charged a $500/person penalty for any extra person not confirmed on their reservation.
MAXIMUM CAPACITY POLICY: Renter agrees not to exceed the maximum capacity that is allowed for any castle or suite. Renter agrees your credit card will be charged a $500/person penalty for any person exceeding the maximum capacity that is allowed for any castle or suite.
Renter agrees to leave the rental space, property, and grounds in a clean and orderly condition.
Renter agrees to pay for any damage caused by Renter (or guests of Renter) that occurs during your stay and Renter agrees that your credit card will be charged in order to repair/restore the Highlands Castle property.
AC|HEAT POLICY: To conserve energy, renter agrees NOT to run AC or Heat with any window or door left in the open position. Renter agrees to pay $250 if this policy is not adhered to. Renter agrees to pay $750 if AC 'freezes up' because a window or door was left in the open position with AC running. Recommended AC thermostat setting is 74-degrees Fahrenheit (or higher).
SAFETY RESTRICTIONS: Standing or sitting on any outside terrace wall or terrace railing or stone wall is PROHIBITED on the property of Highlands Castle. Renter and any guest of the renter agree to adhere to this rule for their own safety.
Children are welcome but must be well-supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
NO PETS POLICY: Renter agrees that your credit card will be charged a $500/night penalty if this policy is not adhered to. Note: 2-friendly dogs live in the main castle (Highlands Castle) but are not allowed in the designated guest areas.
Winter Season Bookings: Renter is advised to utilize a 4-wheel drive vehicle with snow tires for safety.
Highlands Castle does not offer any outside goods or services - just the rental of the castle.
The Castle Cottage is suitable for elegant, sophisticated, smaller gatherings of family & friends.
The Castle Cottage is NOT permitted for a bachelor party, rowdy, loud, disruptive, unruly gathering.

About the Owner
John A. Lavender II - owner of Highlands Castle. Highlands Castle was born from a promise I made to my young son... “Someday I’ll build a house where we both will live… a place we’ll call home. A place where you can bring your friends and create special memories… someday Jason I will build you a castle." Looking back to 1978, my 3-year old son would likely have never remembered these words. The promise had more to do with a desire to build a better life, than an actual castle. It would be another 5-years before the ideal property presented itself, a mountaintop in Bolton Landing, NY. While clearing the land for the foundation, a picture was being painted with a chain saw rather than a brush. Within a matter of weeks, the most spectacular view in the world was uncovered. The majesty of Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains seemed as grateful as I was to be unveiled. How was it, that I would be the one to settle here? I believe He heard the promise and lead me to this specific spot. It was not simply luck, this was something much greater. Once the foundation was completed, the wood framing construction was to the roof in a few months and the structure began to find its outward appearance. I finally graduated from the living quarters of a tent to a mattress on the floor, which was fine with me… I was quite happy to be sleeping in my own home. In 1986, I met Yvonne, the woman who 'turned a pile of rocks into a home'. We were married here in 1992, and my parents who were both Methodist pastors officiated our ceremony. (In 2008, my son Jason & Mary would be married at Highlands Castle with his grandparents also officiating their wedding). "Jason, I promised that I would build you a castle, I didn't say you wouldn't be helping me!"... So, when Jason was a teenager, he joined in the stonework. Naturally resourceful, he recruited his football teammates to lend some muscle over the summer months. Their daily mantra was "Let's rock!" and they took great pride in what they accomplished while working together again as a team. (Jason was not only an impressive stonemason, but he also went on to earn an Architectural Engineering Degree, and achieve anything he put his mind to). The stonework was a slow, tedious process and the labor of laying up more than 1,000 tons of local granite would take decades. Over the past 37 years, the property would evolve into what it is today... a series of three castles. In 2010, my wife Yvonne and I decided to make Highlands Castle available so others could experience what our family has been so fortunate to enjoy. Since then, families & friends from all over the world have gathered here to create their own special memories. We hope you'll visit us, too! Our stay at the castle cottage was incredible, our best Airbnb stay in ever. The property is beautiful with an incredibly kind and thoughtful host who has poured his heart into it. You can tell when you are staying in a place that has a meaningful connection to the owner. You feel like an honored guest, not like someone staying in rental property. It is also located minutes from gorgeous Lake George, restaurants, coffeeshops, etc. Pandemic or not, I highly recommend it.

The Highlands Castle experience provides an Oasis of calm above the tourist fray of the town below. The views are amazing and the sunrises are spectacular. The Cottage was roomy and clean and had all the amenities needed to cook for my family.
