Sandy Maine began her career as an Adirondack Wilderness guide in the 1990’s and worked for private individuals as well as SUNY Potsdam Wilderness Workshop. She also developed and ran the wilderness Outdoor Recreation with Education (ORWE) program for youth in Massena in the 80’s. As a compliment to her guide services she developed a body care and natural Adirondack perfumes and cologne manufacturing business and has since become a prominent influence not only in her vocation, but also in inspiring those who shared her passion to turn their visions into thriving entrepreneurial ventures. Sandy is currently the founder and owner of Adirondack Fragrance & Flavor Farm - where innovative “farm-to-body care’ products are happening in her boutique factory just down the road!!
Lou Maine has been traipsing around the Adirondacks and the St Lawrence Valley as a Land Surveyor for many years. Lou is well versed in local history, carpentry, alternative energy, star gazing, and rehabbing his antique canoe collection.
Lou and Sandy's latest project was the complete Adirondack Style renovation of their vintage, off grid, private wilderness cabin on the West Branch of the St. Regis River located on the back forty of the Adirondack Fragrance & Flavor Farm. It is there they look forward to hosting guests who will enjoy the natural solitude, privacy and aesthetic comforts of the cabin, river and beautiful forest trails on their unique 80 acre property.
A true sanctuary. My daughter was feeling homesick at college and needed some time with family. I scooped her from Potsdam and we spent the afternoon and evening here! It was exactly what she needed and we are now thinking about our next adventure here! Sandy and Louie are amazingly super hosts! Also... be sure to test the ADK Cologne! It’s delightful! Can’t wait to buy some!

Sandy has developed this place into an excellent getaway cabin right by the river! It was extremely clean and had all the necessities for a comfortable and memorable experience for my wife and 2 kids. Sandy and her husband (Lou) were also an excellent hosts and allowed our kids to milk the goat. The homemade cookies were also delicious. Last but not least, we were able to try her natural products during a bath and they are excellent. Thank you Sandy, we hope to talk to you soon.

Sandy's cabin is fantastic. My partner and I spent a weekend in Sandy's magical cabin celebrating our anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better stay. The cabin is secluded, in a private section of woods, with a wonderful riverfront location. We loved kayaking on the river, cooking on the antique stove, taking a relaxing bath in the clawfoot tub, and using to massage table. I can't recommend the cabin enough, especially for a romantic, secluded, weekend escape.

A great off-the-grid place to relax.

Sandra’s place was truly remarkable. She did an amazing job creating a little bit of heaven on Earth. A moment upon entering you could see the craftsmanship & the thoughtful planning to make this cabin be one with nature. This place is completely off the grid supplied almost completely by solar power yet it still has the comforts of any other cabin. The wifi is weak & theres no TV , but that is much of the point of staying here. The site itself is on a beautiful river , isolated enough to have a feeling of being hundreds of miles away yet close enough to make a run to town for a meal or errands.
Sandra’s communication is great & upon check in takes the time to get guests up to speed on how to operate this off grid cabin.
I was only here a short time , but the place does have everything to stay for much longer & extended stays which i was unfortunately not able to do (this time)
Firewood is available for $5 a square , if needed. You’ll want to take advantage of that & star gaze.
A word of note for future visitors , cell service is weak to non existent in the general area & if you’re traveling in from the south you might be taken to Jones rd to get in. The old bridge was closed & i had to reroute myself from the north to enter in from Parishville , which is not easy to do blindly without GPS. Im glad i had an old fashioned road map! Take that into advisement.
Also, the roads are passible with a car , the path to the cabin is gravel & dirt so id recommend going in a truck for peace of mind especially in the weather is inclement. I made it with a car & you can too.
Highly recommended!

Sandra's place is truly special and has a very beautiful energy to it. If you're at all stressed in your day to day live, 24 hours at this A-Frame will be the cure. Sandra made sure me and my guest were completely comfortable and had an amazing experience. They even helped to get our car out when it got stuck on the path (haha, four wheel drive is probably a nice touch for this location). The handmade soaps and shampoos were an amazing touch! We will be coming back to this spot for a recharge for sure. Thank you Sandra!
