Additional Property Information

When you choose a winter get-away in the Adirondacks, you're choosing to experience a 6 million-acre state park comprised of privately and publicly owned land, the largest wilderness area in the lower 48 states.

A car is a necessity to get here and to get around.

The publicly owned State land is constitutionally protected from any kind of development- thus "forever wild." Raquette Lake, with 99 miles of shoreline, is the largest natural lake in the Adirondacks. 80% of the shoreline is owned by the State so you won't see many camps or people- just pristine shoreline, woods and wildlife. Relax, rejuvenate, rejoice!

Sound like something you would enjoy? Peace, quiet and natural beauty in abundance!

What The Loft has to offer is a cozy Adirondack base camp for your winter escape far from the madding crowd. This winter especially, 2020-21 with the Covid 19 Pandemic still menacing, renting a whole cabin for an entire season is appealing. We all hoped the virus would be gone, or at least would have subsided significantly by this Fall and Winter.

Indications are that safety protocols will still be in place through at least 2nd Q, 2021. What to do? You still have a life to live! You still want/need to recreate, relax and rejuvenate. Renting your own cottage for the entire season reduces your exposure to the coronavirus. You can still play outside, participate in all kinds of winter sports, but not have to worry about indoor dining in a restaurant. And you can rest assured that whatever microbes are present in The Loft, are your microbes, not those of the customer who slept and ate there last week.

About the Owner

James Pohl lives on the same parcel as The Loft. Jim and his sister Rachel are the new owners/operators of Raquette Lake Navigation Co, the dinner boat which has been cruising on Raquette Lake since 1991. They bought the business, in which they have worked from day one, from their parents Dean and Donna Pohl. Given the connection between the Pohls and this rental unit, rest assured everything is of top quality and you will be treated with respect and gratitude.

There is the possibility of hiring James Pohl, a Culinary Institute of America graduate to provide the occasional dinner so you don't have to cook and still be able to relax and dine in your own digs. If a natural setting for creating memories is what you're looking for, STOP looking! You've found it here at The Loft!
