This A-frame cottage was completely rebuilt in '04. Its multi-level decks and panoramic windows have spectacular views of Trout Lake and the evening sunsets. The deck is nestled into the rock and is surrounded by pines, giving a sense of being a part of nature. On the deck's first level is a new, large barbecue grill, new wrought iron table with umbrella and seating; on the second level is an electric hot tub with jets and more seating; and the third level provides additional seating as well as serves as an entrance to the ground level sleeping porch and stairs to the dock. A deck off the living room and a balcony off the master bedroom offer more views and seating. In living room is a floor to cathedral ceiling stone fireplace and TV w/ over 150 satellite channels.
There is a swimming area on the shore, as well as off the dock. A new (2013) 17' pontoon boat w/ 8 hp motor (12' x 7' deck with 4 chairs and 1 bench, collapsible cover), 3 kayaks, stand-up paddle boards are provided. Indoors, the floor to cathedral ceiling fireplace, as well as the spacious picture windows and French doors make the living room a haven of views and comfort. Off the living room is the dining room and kitchen. The kitchen has all new cabinets, appliances, Corian countertop, and is fully equipped. Also on the main floor is a bedroom w/ a queen bed across the hall from the full bathroom, which has all new fixtures as well as a stackable washer and dryer.
On the second floor is the master bedroom, with queen bed, single bed and private balcony. On the ground level, near the water's edge, is a sleeping porch, with wrap-around screens, and has 2 queen beds--access to the sleeping porch is off the deck. In addition to the fireplace, the cottage has built in propane heaters. Trout Lake lies in the midst of many recreational opportunities--golf, biking, hiking, spelunking, river kayaking/canoeing, fishing, hunting and unlimited ways for the family to explore the out-of-doors.
Trout Lake is surrounded by 1,600 Acres of Undeveloped State Forest
Waterfalls, hiking, outdoor recreation in the area
Fishing – every year DEC stocks a combined 5 to 10 thousand rainbow and lakers in this deep water lake. Other stocking in recent years include landlocked salmon and walleye. Trout Lake also has a solid population of smallmouth bass.

Donna and John Clark began their lodging business in 1994 with one room in their home which they converted into a bed and breakfast room. Now, almost 20 years later, along with some of their grown 7 children and 17 grandchildren, they own and manage 12 bed and breakfast rooms as well as 4 waterfront vacation rental homes. It is a family business that has brought joy to their family as well as to the hundreds of vacationers who have stayed with them.!
There were 9 adults for four days and it was awesome. The boat started right up and the fish were biting. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We even made the one bathroom work for us. Thanks for a great experience.

Perfect lakeside cabin experience with attention to detail for an overall great experience. Great bonus features made it even better with kayaks, motor boat, amazing decks with lots of seating to enjoy the Adirondacks. Plenty of wood for some great fires! Couldn't have been happier. Thanks

Everything was wonderful for this stay at a peaceful lake camp getaway. The natural beauty of the area and cabin are amazing.

My wife and I stayed at Sunset Cottage for a few days during a trip through the Adirondacks to celebrate our anniversary. The cabin was perfect for us! It's clear that a lot of love went into the development of the property, most evident in the amazing multi-tiered deck which is cantilevered out over the rock face and provides numerous sitting areas and vantage points of the lake as it leads down to the water/dock. The pictures do not do it justice - truly spectacular. There are a couple of old pictures on the wall that will give you an idea of just how much work went into the development and restoration of this camp. The hot tub was clean and properly heated. I will note there are no overhanging roofs, so rainy weather will probably keep you from enjoying a seat on the deck.
Inside is just as nice - the A-Frame construction allows for massive ceilings in the great room, but the vibe is cozy and comfortable, and the amenities are modern. The temperature was chilly outside at night, but the fireplace insert is incredibly efficient - we never had to rely on any of the space heaters. Plenty of well-seasoned firewood in the shed out back. The kitchen is small, but open and functional, and the grill worked flawlessly. I will note that the shower stall is cramped and the fixtures could use a little TLC (leaking) - but it was functional. It's a tradeoff for real estate with the washer and dryer in the bathroom - not a big deal.
The location is the best part about this property. Neighbors are not far away, but the property is heavily wooded and felt very private. You'll need 4WD to navigate the driveway down to the cabin, but there is also parking at the top of the hill. Trout Lake is surprisingly large, and the pontoon boat provided a nice tour of the lake. The east side of the lake is largely undeveloped, which does a lot to preserve the sense of 'forever wild'. The lake is QUIET - or at least it was when we visited at the end of September. The only sounds were the hoots of the owls, cries of the coyotes, and the occasional Loon call. Very peaceful and relaxing.
If you need to grab household supplies or some essential items for cooking, the 164 Main Street Market is a great little spot and just a 5min drive from camp. They serve breakfast sandwiches' and fresh food as well.
This is an incredible camp, we really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back.
