Description

Yay! You found us.

Welcome to the newly revamped ADK Athlete Retreat! We are thrilled to open our hearts and home to you. Whether you're coming to Lake Placid as an Olympian, triathlete (or the training widow/er of an Ironman), looking to tear up some trails or bag some 46ers, hoping for fresh powder, or just want to chill out and rejuvenate, we hope you'll stay in our modernized, historic home, steps from Mirror Lake and all the best bars, restaurants and shops on Main Street.

You'll find us at the tippy top of the hill just behind the theater and Episcopal Church in the center of town. You can practically smell Edite's homemade turnovers and scones at Bluesberry Bakery from our front porch. The Olympic Center, Olympic Ski Jumping Complex and Lake Placid Horse Show are a very short run or ride from us.

Whiteface Ski Resort is a 15-minute drive. Whiteface Peak is visible from our front porch and all the bedrooms in the front of the house. Once you see how magical that view is with the ever-changing clouds, light, and mist, you might never leave. (Which is totally OK with us, as long as you renew your rental contract.).

We have space for everyone and everything — 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths, game room with darts and foosball, a children's playroom, basement bike/gear room with separate entry for protected storage for your $$$$ stuff, a private enclosed back patio, and 5 off-street parking spaces. (Just writing all that gets us so excited!) We have flatscreens in all of the bedroom rooms and hi-speed WiFi throughout the house. We recently added a Firestick to the living room TV for all of your streaming needs. But we hope you'll spend most of your time connecting with nature. Each floor has its own full bath with shower, vanity, tons of plush towels, hairdryer, and luxury bath products. Life's too short for drama, regrets, and cheap shampoo. Please note: we encourage you to steal your kid's french fries, or steal a glance of an Olympic bobsledder at Mt. Van Hovenberg, but please don't steal the bath goods or other stuff in the house. It has happened, and it royally bums us out. If you *really really* need them or absolutely can't live without them, just ask!

The main floor features a spacious dining room, gourmet kitchen, living room with stone fireplace, TV and enough seating for your whole group, sunroom, full bath, laundry room with a serious washer/dryer and drying rack to handle ALL your needs, newly constructed bedroom (FIRESIDE: 2 Double Beds) and access to the bike/gear room in the basement.

The enclosed back patio is the perfect entertainment oasis. It features a brand new salt water hot tub, propane grill, and in warmer months, a large dining table and additional outdoor seating are available. Completely fenced-in for privacy, it's just you, your peeps, the breeze in the treetops and beaming moonlight. Our big covered porch is the perfect spot for sipping drinks while watching the sunset reflect on Whiteface, or for watching a summer storm roll over the peaks.

If you have kids, you've hit the rental property jackpot — there's a huge, well-groomed park and playground directly across from our house. It's easy to keep an eye on your kids playing over there while enjoying those aforementioned drinks from the front steps — one of the many reasons we knew we had to own this home. The second floor features 4 bedrooms and 1 full bath. Each bedroom has a flatscreen TV and WiFi:

WHITEFACE: King Bed + room for a pack-and-play TIPS UP: 2 Double Beds + room for a pack-and-play
SNOWSHOE: 1 Queen, 1 Double CASCADE: King Bed + room for a pack-and-play The third floor features another full bath and a children's playroom, equipped with Thomas the Train and his many, many friends, books to read, books to color, and games galore.

To add to the family-friendliness of our home, we offer a pack-and-play travel crib, infant tub, baby monitor, high chair, and dishes for kids. The ground floor entry to the basement offers secure, dry, temperature-controlled storage for all your bikes, skiis, boots, wetsuits and assorted gear. Foam roller, yoga mat, resistance bands, and jump rope are located in the front hall closet. World-class sports and orthopedic physical therapist (a.k.a. one of the homeowners) not included with the rental, but can be made available upon request!

Private, off-street parking for 5 cars is available in front of the house. BOOM. Additional parking is available on the street except when it snows. You can probably figure out why. We love pets and we bet yours is adorbs, but we'll have to settle for seeing them on Instagram and not in our home. Similarly, we have an aversion to smoking and large groups looking to party. Sorry, brah.

This is a family home, not a frat house. Nature has the power to change you and whomever you come here with — we hope you'll let it! Stay with us, and fully experience everything the Adirondacks have to offer. We can't wait to have you, and can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!

Great Property

The house was big enough for our large group of 12 people, and was comfortable for a weeklong stay. Good location for getting around in Lake Placid. Julie was great to work with and helped us with some special considerations for our stay.

Fantastic Trip

Fantastic trip all around. The house itself was perfect for our needs and the location was spot on. Easy walk to Main Street and all it has to offer. Everyone in our party loved the house and everything it had to offer. Julie was a pleasure to work with through the booking process and even provided us a list of activities which would be well suited for our young children. There was more than enough room and the common areas were perfect for hanging out or eating our meals. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Lake Placid.

Lake Placid

This property is located in the heart of Lake Placid Village. It overlooks a neighborhood park and has mountain views. Our party of 11 fit comfortably in this home and enjoyed our week long stay.

Great house and location!

This house was great as were the home owners! The house itself was clean, warm and cozy with a well equipped kitchen and great family room with fireplace to gather after a day of skiing. The house is located just a short walk to town where there’s lots of cute stores and restaurants. Staying here we got to enjoy the town (the teenagers enjoyed being able to walk to town on their own!) and Whiteface mountain is just a short drive away. The home owners were very responsive before and during our stay! They went above and beyond providing recommendations and tending to our family’s needs for a great trip. Would definitely recommend. Our family had a fun and memorable trip!

Great Ski Getaway

This house is a great location. We were able to walk into town for shopping and dinner. It was only a short drive to White Face. The house was very clean and provided a great atmosphere to relax in after a cold day on the mountain. The owners were great before, during, and after our stay. We will be back soon.

Perfect Lake Placid Retreat

We have loved coming to Lake Placid for years, and had the opportunity to bring our families to stay at this amazing house for my husband's 40th birthday. We couldn't have asked for a better place! Highly, highly recommend staying here. The combination of the location by Mirror Lake, the amount of space in the house, and the stunning view that greets you can't be beat. The house itself is beautifully decorated yet cozy and inviting. The numerous bedrooms, bathrooms, and back deck make it a great spot for families or groups. We can't wait to return.
