Super cute, well kept family cottage
We had a great week at this super cute cottage! It's in a very good location with close proximity to Penn Yan and all town amenities. The owners live next door and are very friendly, helpful people. Overall, this cottage is very comfortable and well maintained inside and out. The outdoor areas are sharp looking. We loved sitting out on the lawn, deck or dock in the comfortable adirondack chairs, enjoying the view. Lawn umbrellas and picnic table were very much appreciated. You can swim off the dock or use the walk-in beach area. We enjoyed lounging in floats (bring your own) in the warm water, or paddling up the coast in kayaks we rented from Reagan's (they deliver directly to your cottage). Fire pit in the evening was nice. The yard, stairway and dock walkways are well lit for evening use. We didn't use the gas grill, but it appeared to be in excellent condition and a good size for bbq. Inside, the main living area is very comfortable with excellent views and nice touches such as the wooden flooring, window coverings and a thoughtful décor that clearly has meaning for the family. Furniture is comfy, especially the sofa, futon and upholstered swivel chairs. There is streaming service on the TV, books, music and puzzles. Plenty of lamps for a cozy feel and lots of windows to bring in natural light. The kitchen is basic but well functioning and has pretty much anything you may need. We really appreciated having use of the washer and dryer. Beds are comfortable. The bathroom was nice -- they've really made the most of a small space and it doesn't feel small at all. The shower is very nice with great built in shelves and clever fold out doors, nice showerhead and hot water supply. Everything was spotlessly clean. We only used the A/C once or twice all week. The windows offer nice breezes and the roof fan helps to clear out hot air. Overall, a clean, cozy, relaxing environment. And we barely heard any road noise at all. We enjoyed taking long daily walks on E Bluff Drive heading south of the cottage. Not much traffic, especially on weekdays. You can also walk (or drive) up nearby Culver Hill Road to top of the hill toward Skyline Drive for a beautiful view of both branches of the lake and lovely farmland/vineyards. Additionally, the farmer across the street sells firewood and has a little self-service (free) Reel Mower Museum in his garage. Overall, a wonderful week and we would most certainly like to return!
