Last weekend (July 23, 2017) was the Lake Placid Ironman event. We had two people competing, and a lot of supporters. My task was to find a home that would accommodate about 18 active people. By active, I mean folks who want to run, bicycle, hike, fish, cook, swim, sit in the river, cook good meals, etc. Hot tubs are usually a necessity for this group.
So our search led us to VRBO and a property owned by Gene Mishkevich. I talked to Gene, and he could not have been more friendly or accommodating. After he heard about the size of our group and our plans, he recommended a different property of his, which is Jay View Lodge. I believe he had recently acquired it, and was in the process of making some additions to it. Based on his helpfulness and the photos that he sent of the place, I immediately agreed. And I'm so glad I did.
It's a beautiful lodge, and everything was clean and in good working order. Rustic character, but really a luxury place. Nice bedrooms, fully stocked kitchen (we did not expect this, but you don't have to bring anything at all!), lots of bathrooms, nice deck, great gas grill, a fire ring that was perfect for sitting around and watching the stars at night, the hot tub, the dry sauna, the rec room (had some great ping pong tournaments...), the large screen TV- it really was perfect for our group. It's about 21 miles from Lake Placid, in a secluded area which was great. Great bike ride into Lake Placid if you wish (be warned- a major hill if going in through Keene!), and just gorgeous scenery.
All of us had a tremendous time, and Jay View Lodge would be our first choice if our adventures bring the group back to Lake Placid. Highly Recommended!
