Pros: cozy old-fashioned house, comfortable beds. the house is laid out such that if you need to have people sleeping in the living room on the pullout, there is a bathroom on each floor so no one has to worry about waking others up during the night. The creek is GREAT. Bring water shoes with treads (the rocks can be slippery).

Cons: This is the first time I've had to leave a negative review, and I dislike doing it, but feel responsible to future potential guests.

When we arrived, the host confronted us in an aggressive and disrespectful manner about parking in the wrong place. She had given us no specific information about rules for parking (just "you have your own house with your own driveway and parking space"), so we guessed. It seems that she was worried we would run over a pipe buried underground, but they didn't have that area marked, so how did she expect us to know? Also, we hadn't been parked over the pipe, we parked in the driveway. On top of all that, she berated my father about it, who hadn't even been the one driving. It was all very strange and upsetting, and we felt unwelcome for the rest of the week.

We otherwise enjoyed our stay, but in all honesty I can't say we would stay there again. We are pretty conscientious as a family, and the stress of not knowing if something was going to set her off again put a cloud over our vacation.

Idyllic cozy retreat in the mountains complete with rushing creek! We have loved staying in Agnes’s cottage, using the wood she has provided to build warm fires in the living room stove, eating her homemade breads, walking down the hill to have appetizers by the water. It has been a lovely spot for our family and we would highly recommend! The area is perfectly located for skiing at both Wyndham and Hunter mountains and for so many beautiful area hikes scattered throughout the Catskill Preserve.

Beautiful cozy home located on a stream. 10 min away from Hunter Mountain and Windham Mountain.

My family (my parents, wife and 18 moths old & I) enjoyed our weekend getaway here immensely at Agnes’s place. The second we arrived there was such a strong welcoming and friendly vibe! No hesitations to book again!
Such a fantastic location with a private hike and a beautiful creek right behind the house. We fell asleep with the windows open while listening to the sounds of nature, and running water - which was exactly what we needed while escaping busy life in NYC.
The backyard was perfect! The property around the cabin is also very beautiful, and perfectly secluded.

The beds were comfy and the linens were clean and soft. Cabin itself was private, cozy and was super clean and had all the amenities you'd need. There is a fire pit outside and grill for your grilling needs. Large patio overlooks beautiful mountains – perfect spot to sip morning coffee! The home was very spacious (Duplex with 2 separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms – perfect for family of 5-8) and nicely decorated while the surrounding complex was likewise beautiful. A lot of photogenic spots right on the property. The hi-speed WiFI worked pretty well and we were able to cook several meals as well.
On the top of it – you don’t need to worry about cleaning. Just clean up kitchen (if at all you plan to cook) and grill!

Convenient access to many of the Hunter / Catskills attractions and just 10 minutes’ drive can take you to sweet small town where you can enjoy restaurants / diners with great mountain views serving amazing food but even better to just relax and enjoy Agnes’s property. Hunter mountain for zip lining and scenic sky ride was a home run for us!
Agnes is such a wonderful host! Very responsive and extremely helpful with answering all questions / recommendations! We had a great time!! She was also very quick with her responses, had lots of extras that most places don’t come with, and a whole book / guide of things to do.

So in summary – Fantastic host and a peaceful retreat and the surrounding woods, creek, countryside were exactly what we were hoping for. It was truly an unforgettable weekend (Thank you again, Agnes) and we will be returning again!!
I would HIGHLY recommend checking this place out.
