This cozy and charming cottage is the perfect lakeside retreat. It's right on Keuka lake, has a gentle slope to the water with a beautiful view, and is located approximately 7 miles North of Hammondsport on the East side of Keuka Lake, near the town of Wayne. The cottage is in a quiet area, about ¼ mile off of the main road (Hwy 54).
If Keuka Lake is the Jewel of the Finger Lakes, our cottage on Marilena Point is the choicest of gems you'll find right on the water! At first glance, you will no doubt understand why this charming and historic property has been cherished by the Shoemaker family since its construction in 1935.
At second glance, when you walk through the back door, you will fall in love! Amidst the 30's vintage architectural features and antique pieces of our cozy cottage, you will also discover all the necessary updates and comforts for modern-day living...baseboard heating, ceiling fans, thermal windows; stainless steel appliances, renovated main bathroom, new/renewed comfortable furniture throughout; well-maintained outdoor landscaping; sturdy and comfortable outdoor seating, whether on the covered side porch, wide open lawn, or over the water on our permanent dock.
To top it off, there is a large fire pit area at the water's edge for cozy evenings under the stars, while roasting marshmallows and having a chat. The "water's edge" is only 30 feet from the front door, with a very gentle slope into the water...just perfect for watching small children play in the shallows, sliding in your kayak and canoe, or launching your family's boat.
It goes without saying that Keuka Lake itself is an outdoor "recreation center," whether for boating, water skiing, jet skiing, tubing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, fishing, snorkeling, or numerous other lake-based activities...its gorgeous clean, clear, sparkling water is a draw without equal!
Within a short driving distance from the cottage is the village of Hammondsport to the South (voted "Coolest Small Town in America"), Penn Yan to the North, and Watkins Glen to the East. Keuka Lake State Park, Letchfield State Park, and Finger Lakes National Forest are all within a 60 mile radius of 9299 Spruce Road...breathtaking scenery, waterfalls, hiking, picnicking, and camping at your fingertips! Within a 20 mile radius are the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, Champlin Beach, Depot Park, Finger Lakes Boating Museum, Watkins Glen State Park, Birdseye Hollow State Forest, Sugar Hill State Forest, and a large number of award-winning wineries including Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Cellars, Heron Hill Winery, Rooster Hill Vineyards, and Weis Vineyards.
So much to see, so much to do. Come on in, get comfortable, put your feet up, relax and stay awhile! The Shoemakers are very glad to have you...Cheers!!

The Finger Lakes region (with Keuka Lake at its heart) has long been renowned for its excellent wines, the production of which was first recorded in 1829, when The Reverend William Bostwick of Hammondsport planted Vitis labrusca shoots in the Episcopal rectory's garden...though commercial viticulture officially began in 1862, when the Hammondsport and Pleasant Valley Wine Companies were founded. The Finger Lakes of New York is now the largest and most celebrated wine producing region in the Eastern United States. At this point in time, there are over 100 wineries in the Keuka Lake area alone, most of which are open daily, year round for both tastings and Signature Events.

Wonderfully quiet cottage perfect for a relaxing weekend away. We loved it!
Stayed December, 2018
We came back to this gem for Memorial Day after a stay in November! Since the weather was so much warmer, we were able to enjoy so much more! The side porch was perfect, light breezes and shade. We had a few nights sitting on the dock as well. Of course, our dog enjoy her swims several times a day! The owners were very nice and attended to any concerns or questions we had. I believe we will be making this home a regular vacation spot for years to come!

We had a lovely stay at this cottage that you could tell had a lot of history and love there from its family owners over generations!
The kitchen isn't huge but is very well-appointed. The downstairs 1/2 bathroom is tiny but does the job. Overall, the cottage was clean and cozy.
The only small suggestions I would give are these: In the downstairs queen bedroom, there is a top/bottom washer and dryer in the middle of the room; finding a different place for it would be ideal (if possible). Also, the bed metal bed frame in that room was poking out significantly, so we needed to put a pillow in front of it so we wouldn't bump our leg into it.
We had a wonderful and comfortable stay! The upstairs main bedroom had a really comfortable bed, and the upstairs bathroom was large and clean. They had clean linens, towels, and a first-aid kit at the ready. Lots of windows allowed for nice natural light and a lovely cross-breeze of the lake air. There is a convenient lakeside market named "The Olney Place Market & Deli" a few miles up the road, and the location is ideal, right on the lake. We wouldn't hesitate to book it again!

Even though it snowed for 3 days while we stayed, it was still a grand time and a superb visit all around! It's correct that this is the best location on the lake!

All 6 of us were comfortable and cozy in this cottage. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our feast and relax at the table enjoying our beautiful lake view. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the wi-if and tv worked great, though we spent most of our time touring the area and playing games. We were blessed with decent weather, and got to enjoy the outdoors quite a bit. It will be a memorable thanksgiving for all of us. Also the owner was very easy to work with.

This house checked all our boxes! Clean, well stocked, great location, level yard with perfect water entry, dog friendly, and walkable to two wineries! We thoroughly enjoyed our late fall stay and will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time at your home on the lake. The house was very well maintained and had everything we could need. We loved the firepit and the Adirondack chairs. The sun room was wonderful as well. It was nice being so close to all the wineries during the day and enjoying the view of the lake at night! I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks for everything!!
