About Robert Henry:
We have both lived and worked in the area all our lives. We enjoy the country setting and the many activities right outside our door. We are both self employed. Bob has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1980 and Dawn was formerly in printing but now has a doggie daycare, boarding and grooming business. We have four dogs of our own and enjoy spending time with them.
Robert Henry purchased this house in 2011
Why Robert Henry chose Chautauqua Lake
This home was built on our own land because we thought it was a perfect spot for all to enjoy. There is so much to see and do here and the summers are so beautiful. It's also great for winter enthusiasts. Chautauqua Lake and Chautauqua Institution make this a much sought after tourist destination.
What makes this house unique
We never get tired of all the wildlife that we see out our back window. It's always fun to spot a bird you don't see very often or to watch the deer out in the field. Summer brings great shows and lectures at Chautauqua Institution. There are also many unique restaurants in Mayville itself.
Wonderful place to stay. Peaceful, centrally located, clean, family fun on front porch, walking trails, fire pit, swing set, Best part: Surrounded by nature

I travelled with my husband, 2 adult sons, and mother-in-law. We were looking for something that offers multiple rooms and bathrooms. Something close to activities but not busy like most hotels are. We were able to prepare meals and enjoy family time yet drive to Niagara Falls and Rochester. My sons enjoyed the fire pit and down time to relax. Great experience had by all.

There are instances where photos can be deceptive. That was also the case here. The photos did not do the property and experience justice. If you, the renter, are in search of solitude and a refuge, believe me, this is the place for you. The home is very nicely furnished and well kept.

Shady Grove Cabin is spacious, beautifully and tastefully decorated with touches of rustic charm, clean, comfortably furnished, and well-stocked. Only 7 minutes away from Lake Chautauqua, this private location in a wooded grove was a perfect place for us to commune with nature as well as being conveniently located to all the activities we planned to do on our vacation. Private, Peaceful, and Perfect in every way!

I'm from Iowa, my daughter and family from NYC. We decided to meet here for vacation. It actually exceeded our expectations. Beautiful wooded area. Very private. Lots of room for the kids to run and play. Cabin was beautiful. It's close to both Lake Chautaqua and Lake Erie so we were able to go to both. Would highly recommend!

We rented this as a weeks summer vacation and a way to celebrate our son's fifth birthday. He loves campfires and woods, and this location did not disappoint! The field was a wonderful place for out young kiddos to run free and we enjoyed the trails in the woods. Minutes from the lake. So beautiful, cannot be more pleased. It took our breath away when we opened the front door! Thank you so much for allowing us to make memories here!

We really needed to escape covid city living and be in nature. This was the place to do it! Bob is thoughtfully cleaning and placing gaps between renting the space.
The property is divided between wide open fields and wooded paths that lead to fairy tale surprises!
How did we use this outside space?- solar balloons, kites, science experiments, watching for meteors, catching little frogs, 6 foot soccer games, running with our crazy little shi tsus, and mainly watching a kid who needed outside space feel happy.
The cabin was lovely, everything you needed. Highly recommend turning the outside light at night on and letting it flow into the dark cabin. The cabin is artistically designed and beautiful!
