Comfortably furnished, sun-filled 4 bedroom house (sleeps 7 on 2 queen beds & 1 twin upstairs; queen sofa bed on the main floor) with two bathrooms, a fully-equipped remodeled kitchen with brand new appliances, formal dining room seating 6, wood stove in the huge living room, wrap-around porch and two enclosed porches, with the sights and sounds of Fall Creek from most rooms and all three porches. The house is a former creamery - a picture hangs in the dining room of a horse-drawn milk wagon parked in front, circa 1900.
House is located on 8 acres along Fall Creek... Lots of woodlands to explore. Approx 3 miles from Sapsucker Woods (Cornell Lab of Ornithology) and Ithaca Airport. Window air conditioners in three rooms in summer, and wood stove & hot-water heating during the winter months.
We are really serious about the fact that the house sleeps 7 max. Large screen TV/DVD player with DirecTV. Wireless network available. Sheets, towels and basic supplies provided. Professionally cleaned and maintained. On the bus line to Cornell and downtown Ithaca.
The creamery sits in the front of 8 acres on both sides of Fall Creek where it makes a 90-degree turn in the little hamlet of Etna. Five miles downstream Fall Creek passes through Forest Home and Cornell University and becomes Ithaca Falls. There is a house right across the street and a house next door - the creek and protected Finger Lakes Land Trust are your neighbors on the other two sides.
The partially enclosed wrap around porch with views of the creek and back yard is a favorite year-round spot for us and our guests. The Etna post office is a couple of hundred yards up the road - a great walk with your dog, who will be treated with a biscuit upon entrance. The road is very lightly traveled by cars, but bike and foot travel is frequent.
You can put your kayak or fishing rod in the water from the property. Water levels fluctuate during the year, but there is always moving water and wildlife to be enjoyed. Sapsucker Woods, the Ithaca airport, Cornell University, a brewery, restaurants and shopping are all within a 10-mile radius, yet you really feel like you are out in the country when you are at the creamery. There is off-road parking for 4 cars right next to the house and the TCAT bus to Cornell and downtown Ithaca goes right by the house. Rental cars are available at the airport which is less than 5 miles away.
|
There are three steps up to the first floor. The stairway to the 2nd floor has approx 10 steps, a landing then 4 more steps. There is a washer/dryer in basement. The basement is not full height and not suitable for children to play in.
A single dog will be considered. Security deposit and/or fee may be required. Dogs are not allowed on any furniture and must be on a leash at all times outside and picked up after.
We do have wireless internet service. The house does NOT have a 'landline' phone. The area gets good cell phone connections, and this has been adequate for the owners (we use AT&T).

About Michael Hall and Patricia Krenzke
My wife and I live in Baltimore and plan on retiring to the creamery in around 10 years. We had no connection to the Finger Lakes until we traveled through on our way to Canada and we both fell in love with the area. We call it 'Drinking the Kool Aid' and countless others have suffered the same fate as we did. Two years later we bought the house and have spent the last eight years furnishing it and spending vacations there and enjoying all there is to do in the area.
Michael and Patricia purchased this Farmhouse in 2008
Why Michael and Patricia chose Ithaca:
Beautiful views, easy access to the water, birds, and wildlife abound, house and property full of history, close to Ithaca but still 'away from it all'
What makes this Farmhouse unique?
You will immediately feel 'at home'.
Everyone raves about the wrap-around porch surrounded by a huge old maple tree with views of the creek.
A picture hangs in the dining room of the house when it served as a creamery with a horse-drawn wagon carrying milk cans pulled up in front of the house CA 1900.
If you love the character of older homes like us, you will be pleased. Beautifully restored wooden floors that talk to you (creak) as you walk through the rooms. Doorknobs (interior/exterior) need some work. Plenty of options for indoor/outdoor porches for all kinds of weather. The creek runs right by the house, wildlife a plenty. A great place to spend time and enjoy the peace. One very large bedroom, and two additional and a bath upstairs. A den option on the first floor for the optional fourth and a second full bath. The owners were very nice, accommodating and quick to answer any questions. Plenty of games and books. Had a great family vacation and would visit again.
Stayed July, 2022
This home was perfect for us. Plenty of room for four adults and two very young children. We loved relaxing on the beautiful porch, and playing with our 2 year old grandson on the banks of the gently flowing creek.
The location allowed for us to explore much of what the Ithaca area has to offer, waterfalls, Stewart park, craft breweries and the numerous wineries along Cayuga lake.
We had a great time and would definitely love to go back some day.

Lovely place right by the river in a small town called Etna. There's a cute postal office down the street. The house is huge and is full of character. The kitchen has everything you need, and more. It's also very clean. Highly recommended.
Stayed May, 2022
The house is a wonderful farmhouse: cozy, clean and welcoming. It has beautiful views, great layout & decor and modern amenities such as a heated bathroom floor. I felt safe walking my dog at night in the back. Cornell is a short trip down Dryden Road and downtown Ithaca also a short drive on route 13. This house was our haven during a trip to deal with a family crisis.
Thank you!

Great location along the creek. Lots of fun in the snow. Very accommodating hosts. Would defiantly recommend staying here.

The Creamery was a delight to our family. It was spotless upon our arrival, had lots of seating, large and well appointed kitchen and dining room, and a good selection of sleeping arrangements. The heating system worked well and lots of hot water for showers! We were not able to use the outdoor options due to the winter weather but the porches and setting next to the creek looks like relaxing spots. Highly recommended and we will likely return for later visits when visiting the area.

My son and his wife are relocating. We had family come from four different directions to look around the area and catch up after the last year’s craziness. The house was very accommodating with a large dining table., separate TV area and places to have conversations or quiet reading time. My daughter-in-law was working so she had zoom meetings, still lots of room for the rest of us to sprawl. Nice touches for casual dinners and parties: plastic platters, wine opener, glassware, LOTS of mugs (morning coffee visits are the best), counter space, two sinks in kitchen. The heated bathroom floor was a hit with one of the dogs. Quiet location and good views, but easy access to Ithaca restaurants, farmer’s market and Cornell campus. Very relaxing.
Stayed November, 2021
The house was clean, beds comfy, and the yard and porches were the highlight! Lovely!
Stayed October, 2021
Everything was great, just as described. It worked out very well for our group for the weekend - close to the city of Ithaca and the numerous state parks/waterfalls we visited in the area.
Rooms were nice size and very comfortable. The whole house was spotless and inviting. Detailed descriptions from the owner made it easy to settle in quickly. Unfortunately, we were not there long enough to be able to use the outside amenities ( porches , yard, and firepit), which were very nice. We'll have to plan another visit to fully use them. One small concern. Be cautious of uneven stones from path from parking to the door in the dark (including loose rocks). It was dark/cloudy and rainy for most of our stay, it would be much better on brighter days. One older member in our group noted that the stairs to the 2nd floor are steep, which is indicative of an older house. However, railings, good lighting, and a landing make that easier to navigate.
Stayed October, 2021
Loved the house and it's convenient location. We wanted to visit Sapsucker Woods and the Cornell Arboretum and Botanic gardens and the house was only a short distance away. The owner was kind enough to take our reservation on short notice. The owner and the caretaker were easy to communicate with. The kitchen and bathrooms were sparkling clean. Hope to stay again.
