Description
This unique vacation rental home is a duplex with two identical 4 bedroom and one bathroom units. The rental will include a full kitchen, one bathroom, four bedrooms, a large living room, and half the deck overlooking the lake.
We only rent by the week, starting and ending on Saturday.
Check-in is after 4 pm on Saturday, check-out is before 10 am on the following Saturday.
The house does not have air conditioning. There is a large flat-screen TV in the living room which is connected to a DVD/Blu-Ray player, there is no cable or satellite television connection. High-speed fiber optic (200mps up/download) has just been installed!!
The kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. There is no dishwasher. It is well stocked with dishes and cookware. You will need to bring ALL of your own towels. Gas grill on the deck. The bathroom is located downstairs. It is a simple tub/shower, toilet, sink, vanity layout. You will need to bring ALL your own towels. There is a shared washer and dryer available in the utility room. Please see pictures and send email or call for further details.
Towels: No towels are provided. You will need to bring bath towels, hand towels, dish towels, beach towels, any towels you will need you will need to bring. I have had too many problems with providing towels that I no longer provide any towels.
Bedrooms:
1 bedroom downstairs has a queen bed. This room is immediately adjacent the kitchen and bathroom. 3 upstairs bedrooms. 1 of which has a queen bed. 1 of which has two twin beds. 1 of which has two twin XL beds. Sheets, pillows, and blankets are provided or you can bring your own. You will need to make up your beds upon arrival. There are no closets in the bedrooms. The access road is steep and narrow but well maintained. Once you are at the house you are at lake level with easy access to the water. There is limited room for parking, please try to limit the number of vehicles you are bringing to the house. If you bring a boat and the lawn is dry and solid you can launch directly from the property. Otherwise, you will need to launch at one of the public launch sites on the lake.
The house is 50’ from the water and sits on an acre of land with 333 feet of level access lakefront. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the water and play in the yard. Bring your own boat and tie it up to the dock, or you can rent one from the marina nearby. The house is not ADA compliant, but it is relatively wheelchair friendly. There are no steps to access the first floor from the back (non-lakeside) of the house. There is no step to access the dock and the yard is relatively level. Enjoyed our stay
Our week was pleasant even though 2 days before we arrived the area had flooding. Bob was great about letting us know and moving docks so we could enjoy. Thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the lake and sunsets. After the first day we were able to swim and kayak every day. As it was late August it was hot and late in the day house got pretty warm but there were fans in most rooms. AC in bedrooms would be a nice addition. Teens had great time in the water!

Robin and family were fabulous guests. It was a rough week after a massive flood with the lake level rising two feet in 24 hours on Thursday before arrival! Being local I asked Robin to stop down to make sure they wanted to come and they thought about it and did. I am really glad because it was super getting to know all of you and as the lake level came down the waterfront was a lot more enjoyable. Everyone seemed to have a good time.
Air conditioning is often requested by guests. But is difficult to install window units in casement windows which we have throughout the house and there is no ducting in the house for air conditioning as we have a boiler and wall radiators for heat. It was a VERY warm and humid week and I am sorry if you were not comfortable.
We enjoyed your stay very much and look forward to seeing you throughout the school year!

Amazing Lakefront Property
This is a beautiful piece of property with an awesome beachfront and beautiful sunsets. The property's location is convenient to historic Auburn and local wineries, but you won't want to leave the lake. Bob, the host, was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The house itself has a very well equipped kitchen and a grill on the porch, but it IS a cottage. While it is quite functional and comfortable, it shows signs of wear and tear. My family enjoyed our stay immensely and highly recommend it.

beautiful view ,great swimming .and camp fires every night
We had six adults and two small children. Linens left a little to be desired. No towels provided, which included paper towels and toilet paper. Plumbing backed up on the 4th of July. Owner living in the other half of this duplex did respond quickly and after a few hours we were able to use the one bathroom in the house. This house does not have air conditioning, so most rooms have upright fans in them. If you are there to relax this place is great, parking is very limited, were shuffling cars several times over the week. Thanks Joe,

After this review I did purchase new queen and twin linens. Thank you for the comment. I have tried to make it extremely clear to all guests that I do not provide towels on the property. I used to and this proved to be a huge challenge so I discontinued this practice and no longer provide any towels at the property.
Plumbing backed up in the rental unit because the guest flushed a paper towel. There is a sign posted in the bathroom that we have a sensitive waste system that will not handle anything but toilet paper. I did respond on Sunday, July 4th, personally to unclog the waste line under the house. Which was not how I wanted to spend my July 4th. And I know there was a paper towel in the system because I personally pulled it out to free the waste line. This was a horrible experience for everyone. I have also tried to make it very clear in my posting that the house does not have air conditioning and as the guest indicated I do provide fans. There is adequate parking here at the house for at least 10 vehicles, of which I typically occupy 2-3 spots. I suggest guests limit the number of cars they bring to the house to 2-3 cars, which is the norm for most parties of 8 guests.
I am disappointed by the poor review. These guests were a pleasure to have here at the lake with us. Bob

Last minute vacation plan and the owner Bob was very accommodating!
Right from the beginning the owner was very helpful and provided information to rent a pontoon boat. We were able to launch and dock the jet ski and boat with our own dock and the owner even took us across the lake to pick up our pontoon rental! The property is beautiful! We enjoyed a wonderful week with 5 teenagers who were able to fish and play football and throw the baseball around and enjoy bon fires at night.It was so quiet and I enjoyed watching the kids have fun without their phones/TV/ electronics!! Great place to unplug and unwind

great property!
Bob was a great host and the property was exactly what we were looking for as a lake escape. It is attached to the owners house so not completely private but enough space.
The internet/service was a little bit of an issue for us when a few of us were trying to work during the day but we made it through.
I would definitely recommend the house/Bob if you are looking for a lot of time outdoors and some great advice for the area.

Beautiful spot on Owasco Lake
Substantial amount of lake front, beautiful view of sunsets, knowledgeable and helpful host, spacious deck, great master bedroom with large bay window giving one view of the lake looking west and a perpendicular window giving a southern view of the lake, bald eagle, osprey, kingfishers, blue heron, etc. Great place to sample nature and base for exploring the lake as well as peaceful place to gather our family (wife, two sons and their partners.) Great time.
