I'm a mother and farmer, we currently live in the beautiful hills of Columbia County, NY. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about our family condo in Puerto Rico or our farmstay apartment at our farm and residence in Ghent, NY.
We had such a nice stay on the farm! It was nicer than expected inside, clean and full of little amenities like nice spices and soaps. The sauna was a nice relaxing activity, and we loved the very comfortable beds and couch. It’s a nice layout as well, with the kitchen /living space connected. We loved looking out the windows at the animals and at the gorgeous trees. The wood stove was cute and useful. It was neat being on a little trail so that we could stroll around for quick walks. Also this location is close to Bash Bish Falls, an hour from the Catskills and an hour to Mt Greylock. We went hiking all three places! Also enjoyed the farmers market on Saturday near Bash Bish. And we really enjoyed the meat we got from the farm that we made for dinner. Wish we had brought less food and purchased all our eggs and meat from the farm! Overall a really nice spot and we would love to return.

Karine's place at Retrograss Farm is a true gem! The space is comfortable, clean, and bright! Wonderful for our family of five. We loved exploring the farm, feeding the animals, and resting by the wood burning stove at night after hiking in the Catskills. It was a truly restful space with natural beauty all around. The sauna was an added treat as well!

Overall, I had a really lovely time staying here. The apartment was so charming and cozy. The farm was beautiful and peaceful, with the exception of animal noises at night, but I honestly felt that added to the charm. I am a meat-eater, and I was really impressed with the intention and care that was taken in how this farm was ran. My only criticism is on behalf of my friend who was staying with me, about how they processed the chickens in the yard, in the view of the apartment. My friend is a vegan, and has strong feelings about animal slaughter. Of course, we were aware that we were staying on a farm and all that entails, but she wasn't expecting to see that, especially not first thing with morning coffee, so it was pretty upsetting for her. I did speak to the host, and they explained how this is not something that they do often, and that they usually set up a tent but they only had a few birds to process, so it was a culmination of a lot of bad luck. But I think it might be helpful for future guests for there to be some sort of trigger-warning on the listing, or at least a text sent to the guests to just prepare them for seeing something that they might not want to. The hosts were kind when I brought this to their attention, and I would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at Retrograss Farm was just perfect! The apartment is clean and comfortable. Karine put plenty of high-end touches to make the apartment comfortable for guests (a Casper mattress, luxurious down comforter, wonderful smelling soaps). What a joy it was to walk right outside and be greeted with a beautiful farm and friendly animals. Our boys absolutely loved every minute! The farm store is very convenient and had the most delicious eggs, milk, meat, and beets! We picked kale right from the garden for a dinner. Karine was available throughout our stay and very accommodating. The area is fantastic - so much to do and see!We will definitely be returning! Thank you Karine and family!

Spent 3 days with my family and my 2 year old enjoyed seeing all of the farm animals. The chickens were her favorite!
