This is a private family compound that is now being shared. There's everything here including a treehouse, secluded cabin, ADK style lean-to and campsite.
This 50 acre pristine property was a seasonal hunting/fishing camp built in the 1920's and once purchased by the current owners was built into something you just have to experience to understand. They live very rurally and when they were raising children, they wanted to have the 'cool house' so all the kids' friends would want to hang out at their house. They built a treehouse, Adirondack style lean-to at the top of an amazing sledding hill, a primitive campsite so the Scouts could come camp, learn to rock climb, make maple syrup. There are over 5 miles of hiking/mountain biking trails on the property. Then Sheila & Bob blinked their eyes and their kids are gone, and this beautiful property is meant to be shared. We have multiple lodging options and only one calendar on this site, so please contact us for availability and rates.
You can stay in a fully equipped cabin, Camp Hatteras, that has everything you'll need (sleeps up to 6), or stay in the Magical Treehouse (sleeps 2), enjoy glamping at the Overlook Lean-to (sleeps up to 6, bring sleeping bags), or primitive camp in a beautiful pine plantation. Give them a call to discuss what might be the best option for your group.
Designated horseback riding trailheads are less than a mile away. A “Wild and Scenic Study River,” the Osgood, flows nearby with put-in and take-outs within a couple of miles of your driveway. Drop-off and pick-up arrangements can be made. This is a “must paddle” for those interested in wildlife and scenery. Many have spotted the Bald Eagle who has a nest at the river’s edge. We are surrounded by many great fishing spots. Your hosts, Bob and Sheila, are a former professional wilderness guide, and a life-long resident of the Paul Smith’s area. Between the two of them, good advice—connecting you to great experiences and unique destinations—is as close to a “sure thing” as you can get. The temporary use of their brains is complimentary!
