Bruce or Lynn purchased this House in 2007
Why Bruce & Lynn chose Cape Vincent
Historic Greek Revival Home and carriage house on 7-acre estate with 700 feet of waterfront on the St. Lawrence River in Cape Vincent, New York, in the Thousand Islands.
What makes this House unique
A gorgeous private carriage house on historic 1838 Maple Grove Estate.
Very pleasant and close to town while still feeling private

Our stay at the Carriage House was wonderful. We were fortunate enough to be there during the 1000 Islands Piano Competition (held on the grounds). I thoroughly enjoyed getting to listen to some extraordinary talent while my husband fished. The people at Cape Vincent were so friendly. Great getaway place!

As usual, our stay here was wonderful. We love the open kitchen and our view of the River. The carriage house was clean and tidy. The weather was fantastic and we can't wait to come back again! Joel and Marcie Beaton

What a lovely home, and I couldn't get enough of the view of the river from the living and bedroom windows! The deck off the back overlooking the spacious yard would have been perfect for morning coffee, if the temperature had been a bit cooler. I imagine it would be spectacular in the fall.
Bruce and Lynn (the owners) and Liz and Mike (the "caretakers", I suppose) were so helpful and really went the extra mile to make me feel like this was a home away from home. I had a very enjoyable lunch with Bruce and Lynn, and dinner with Liz and Mike - thank you! The apartment was spotless and well-equipped. It's very quiet with only an occasional car passing by.
It's only a few minutes from the small town of Cape Vincent, and 15 minutes or so from Clayton's Antique Boat Museum (the main reason for my trip, with the annual Antique and Wooden Boat Show held the first weekend in August). Alexandria Bay is a bit beyond that with the various Thousand Islands boat tours (I did Uncle Sams Two Nations Tour that stopped at the fascinating Boldt Castle). The little ferry to Wolfe Island in Canada is minutes away and crossing was a breeze. Then it's ten more minutes to another ferry to Kingston, Ontario.
I had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to return to see things I missed, and take it a little slower to relax and enjoy the Carriage House at a more leisurely pace.

Because of the location we went to the lighthouse every day wether walking biking or on a scooter! Great area to swim and enjoying the sunsets. Back deck was awesome!

This was a delightful apartment in a lovely area. The rooms were beautifully decorated and immaculate. We rented at the last minute and the owners were prompt with responses even though there were some communication problems which were entirely our fault. My only complaint is the rental agreement we were required to sign. It was full of what we thought were petty conditions such as not placing glasses on furniture without coasters, no drinking red wine, no wet towels on the furniture or floors, closing windows if it rains, locking the door when you leave, strict stipulations on where to park, and not placing anything heavier than 20 pounds on parts of the counter. We were almost afraid to sit down. I understand that the home has been lovingly decorated and furnished and the owners want to keep it in top condition. However, we felt we were treated like second graders with a list of rules from the teacher.
