About Tom and Laura:
We moved to the country to change the rhythm of our lives. The peace and quiet of nature have opened doors for us to explore our artistic side and live a healthier lifestyle. Our dream retreat is a private 400-acre sanctuary nestled in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate NY. The house and property were landscaped and designed by us and includes miles of trails lined with old stone walls. The retreat family includes beautiful horses, 2 adoring dogs, peacocks..... Hiking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, and horseback riding, are some of the activities that inspire each day....Winding down with a pen or a paintbrush or a meditative reflection along the water's edge.... Sipping homemade wine by the fireplace as the moon reflects upon the lake....these are just a few of the many joys that brought us here. Come and be inspired too!

This place is heaven. Booked it for fiance's birthday weekend romantic retreat and it was perfect! Gorgeous property, extremely private and quiet, with the ideal mix of walking/hiking trails, pine forests, meadows, beautiful lake ideal for canoeing with the added touch of graceful horses. Owner is splendid and extremely courteous. I highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. We'll be back there someday.

My 10 year old god-daughter and I stayed in apartment over the barn and she was in absolute heaven. The accommodations were cozy, well appointed and very clean with everything you need to cook on vacation, a balcony and the sweet hay smell of a well-tended stable. "My nose is so happy, can we take this smell back to NYC with us?" My 10 year old friend asked. Laura could not have been nicer. She was very accommodating when we were scheduling the weekend and gave us lots of opportunities to interact with the horses, we even got to give one a bath. The lake is perfect size for a 10 year old who is gaining new independence to swim and feel both safe and adventurous. There are also tons of woods and trails for gentle hiking and medium sized adventures. I believe there are lots of opportunities for more intense hikes in the area, but we were so happy and relaxed, we never wanted to leave rippling waters.

Our Family had a enjoyable time staying at Rippling Waters. Laura and Tom were wonderful hosts at their beautiful property. We loved spending time star gazing on the porch and sitting by the lake. It was an amazing relaxing time away. We would highly recommend staying here.

Thanks to Laura and Tom, we had the best last-minute getaway we could ask for! Not only we escaped from NYC for fresh air but we also got the chance to boat ride at the lake, hike and ride one of the smartest, strongest and most friendly horses in the world, Foxy.
The cottage was clean, comfortable, beautiful and cozy. The view from the balcony was exceptional. We used to sit there for breakfast, coffee, board games and we had the time of our lives with the sounds of nature. Moreover, we enjoyed making dinner outside on the barbeque by the lake and sitting around the campfire, wrapped with blankets under the stars gazing.
It was a real pleasure getting to know the owners and learn about their vision for this hidden heaven. We personally keep our fingers crossed that this will come to life soon.
We are definitely going back to create more lifetime memories!

We escaped NYC for 5 days to this beautiful, natural sanctuary. We fished, boated, hiked, swam and biked - and our elementary aged children took horse back riding lessons and jumped freely into the lake. We couldn't have asked for a more peaceful change from our everyday city life!
Thanks Laura and Tom!

If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, be away from people and close to nature, this is the place. My honey and I stayed in the cottage, tucked away in the woods. I thought I may miss not having a view of the lake, but this was even better...surrounded by nothing but giant fragrant pine trees and a pleasant 10 minute walk to the lake. The cottage was both beautiful and comfortable, having everything you need other than food and beach towels. We decided to drive in to town for breakfast (5 minutes away) and while there, pick up something to grill on the campfire (furnished with two camp chairs) located just beyond our private deck (furnished with 2 Adirondack chairs) for dinner, and some bait for lake fishing later on. It worked out well since we caught only a few small perch while fishing the lake - hardly enough for a meal so they were tossed back. (Got the bait in town, but we were supplied the boat and fishing pole). About an hour into the ride home, honey already wants to go back - were aiming for next month. Laura and Tom are excellent hosts. They gave us all the info we needed about the property and the surrounding area. There's a great hiking trail right on the property that brings you to a cliff overlooking the town and mountains - equipped with a two-seater Adirondack (pack your wine and cheese and hit the trail!). We are not "hikers" by any stretch of the imagination - this was uphill all the way and totally worth it (bring sneakers - lots of really big tree roots - tough to walk on with flip-flops). The one and only thing I would have expected that did not come with the cottage rental... curtains! There are nice big windows and not one of them is covered 9with the exception of the bathroom which the shower curtain provides sufficient privacy). This was a bit of an issue on night #1, but by the morning it was clear that even without the curtains there's no one really around (we just kept the lights off in the cabin at night and lit a small candle). I WILL bring something to cover at least the window next to the bed when we go back - but either way...we're going back. Thank you Tom and Laura for a wonderful stay! Hope to see you again soon. :)

What an incredible place of peaceful beauty. My hubby and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and couldn't be happier.
The wonderful hosts Laura and Tom were down to earth, accommodating, and so respectful of our privacy.
We rented the secluded 1 bedroom cabin (very clean and cozy). The other (2?) rentals on the property were being rented by families, but I have to say it was like my husband and I had the entire retreat to ourselves. It was so calming, relaxing and quiet.
The star gazing was awesome. We also took the row boat out and fished, swam at dusk, took a few swings on the rope swing, and we were fortunate enough to see the mist rolling in on the (pristine) lake while we were swimming that evening. I can't tell you how magical and romantic our stay was. We cannot wait to go back. ^__^
Laura and Tom, we can't thank you enough for sharing this hidden gem!

Rippling Waters is a great place to go if you want to experience the simple beauty of nature with the comfort of a home. The property is large enough so that each of the lodging accommodations have their own world and appeal - but they are all brought together by the stone walls and meandering paths that reflect the skilled hands that tamed this beautiful section of New York.

My wife and I and another couple, who we are very close with, came up for the weekend. We occupied the carriage house and the cabin, and we had the most refreshing, rejuvenating time. We hiked, fished, swam and relaxed. At night. we felt that the stars were straight overhead, reachable. After two days, zero tension in our bodies. Thank you Laura and Tom

My Husband and I had such a wonderful and relaxing stay at the cabin. We fished everyday from our kayaks, and often took the row boat out in the evening right before dusk. We caught many fish in the lake and even more in the pond. We also loved seeing the horses. We enjoyed making dinner in the cabin as well as grilling our dinners outside on the grill. It was the perfect escape, thank you for sharing your retreat with us Laura and Tom.
