Diane and Joe our hosts were really great. The cottage was cozy with very comfy beds. And the outdoor shower is terrific! The deck was nice and private, great for relaxing, reading or having a cold beverage after the beach. The proximity to the bay was great and the sunsets truly spectacular. The fact that it was so close to town had its advantages but also its disadvantages in terms of noise from the restaurant at night (especially the frequent clanking of recycling bottles) and the convenience store in the mornings. If you want a truly quiet peaceful respite this might not be the place for you. But if you want easy access to the restaurants, docks and shops then this would be the place.

My family and I have taken summer vacation at this property for 5 years now. It is clean, comfortable and private, with beautiful sunset views. We often take a walk to the dock, just a few yards away and take pictures of the sunset. The beach is a five minute walk and it is lovely to see all of the quaint cottages along the way and the names their owners have given them, such as the "Shell" cottage or "Marv-elous". The owners of this property live next door and are available to address any issues or questions that may arise. We love the outdoor shower, the wrap around deck, the BBQ with a picnic table on one end of the deck, and another patio table on the other side of the deck. A washer and dryer on the outside deck are also very convenient. The interior of the cottage has new wood floors and new stone tiled floors in the kitchen and bathroom. There are AC units in both bedrooms and living room that cool off the cottage efficiently. There is plenty to do on Ocean Beach. We enjoy Maquires, The Landing, and The Hideaway. Matthew's is great for seafood and also has their own fish market. And last but not least, the cottage is just around the corner from a small deli, where we usually go for an egg sandwich and a cup of coffee in the morning. Fire Island is a world of its own and although it is a mere 2 hours from my home doorstep to this cottage, it feels as though we have traveled far away to a secret paradise. We've had great vacations at "Buck and Shogee's" !

We loved our stay at the cottage. It is in a great location beside the bay and very close to all of the restaurants, shops and the beach. The cottage is adorable inside and out. Quaint and beautifully decorated. It has everything you could possibly need and is well kept. The homeowner was very easy to communicate with and was available if we had any questions. It’s definitely the best place to stay on fire island! I’ve stayed in plenty of beach houses around the island but the cottage was by far the cleanest and nicest I’ve stayed in. I would definitely recommend this home and hope to stay again soon!

Excellent little cottage by the bay- comfortable for 5 people + 1 dog. Diane and Joe were very attentive hosts with excellent communication. They were readily available the entire time, making sure we had everything we needed. Excellent location close to the town, but just removed enough to avoid the noise. Would love to stay here again!

Nicely appointed cottage with comfy beds and a cute patio to unwind on. Close to good eateries (we liked Maguires, Mathew’s and The Landing. Drinks at the Schooner Inn; pretty, relaxed setting; would skip the food, though). The best was Diane, our incredible host, who did everything she could to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable - she even helped us through some potential trip hiccups (traveling with a special needs animal).

The Cottage was perfect in every way. Located a short walk from town, steps from the bay and a small stroll to the beach. All we had to bring was some cloths and a plan to relax. The cottage was cozy and clean as well it included beach chairs, beach umbrellas, towels and so much more. Everything you need is in town...restaurants, bars, grocery stores & clothes stores.
Diane & Joe were extremely welcoming, we cant wait to go back!!!

Private feel in a cozy comfortable beach cottage. This has all the conveniences of being in town without the noise or foot traffic. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and bedding, wonderful private outdoor space just steps from the bay and straight down the path to the ocean. Owners/managers were helpful in every way, although very little needed to be done to make this an ideal setting to enjoy a family vacation in paradise. Thank you! We'd love to return next summer!
