Very Relaxing

Property was just as described. quiet, clean, simple. The beach was simply beautiful. Mostly all to ourselves. We enjoyed it.

Amazing Stay at a Magical Place

My family has been vacationing or residing in the Greenport area since the 1940’s—as far as I’m concerned it is one of the most beautiful places on the east coast. The Gate House, the property it sits on and Pat Nelson made Greenport even more beautiful and amazing to us. Pat brings the most welcoming and laid back vibe to you the minute you step foot on the grounds. His friendliness, hospitality and obvious love for this tucked away sanctuary in the midst of the fast and chaotic world we all find ourselves in was the exactly what the doctor ordered for my husband, my dogs and myself. The accommodations were perfect-from the supplies provided, the patio which gives you privacy and space to entertain, a dining room the was able to host 12, washer and dryer so no trips to the town laundrymat, bedrooms away from the rest of the house for afternoon naps—and last but not least—one of the best sandy beaches that I have been to on the North Fork. We had been eyeing this property for an extended stay for some time and I am so happy we were able to make it happen this year. If you want a little slice of paradise on a property that will take your breath away, book Pat’s property. We will stop looking now that we have found it and have already staked a claim for next season. Thank you Pat-for letting us share your homestead and just for being you.

A slice of Heaven

Coming to the Gate House was like entering into an old beloved family country home, even though it was our first time there. Here you have the best of the country and the beach, in walking distance to a bustling harbor town and of course, all the beautiful vineyards and farms of the North Fork within reach all around you. Pat Nelson offered the warmest welcome, making us feel instantly at home and, although we had all we needed, it was great to know he was accessible, should any need arise while we were there.

The 2BR house itself is perfect for a couple with one or two kids, and can accommodate a couple more on the comfortable futon downstairs. Fully stocked kitchen, large dining table for 6, washer and dryer provide all the comforts of home – but if you’re there in the glorious summertime, you can grill and dine on the patio, as we did almost every night of our stay, and watch the amazing light show of fireflies the likes of which I have never seen anywhere else.

Our 8 year old City Kid spent hours swinging on the hammock and enjoying the freedom and safety of the grounds between the beach and the house which are shared only by the guests of the main house and residents of the estate. The pristine and serene pebble beach and glorious calm waters of the Peconic Bay provide an idyllic setting and also a perfect spot for swimming, and the kayak provided by the owner was a wonderful treat for our son as well!

Just a couple of hours from NYC, turn into the gravel driveway and a shift takes place. Here you can stop. And breathe. Take in the natural beauty around you. Listen to the quiet lap of the waves on the shore…the cry of the Osprey overhead…watch a sailboat go by. Just be. How fortunate our family is to have found this place. I wish I could have stayed all Summer...Counting the days until we can return.

Pipe's Cove

Lucked out with a perfect - weather, long weekend. Loved the time spent at Pipe's Cove. From the location to Patrick's hospitality, everything worked. Every recommendation from Patrick was spot on. The beach was peaceful and there was plenty to do on and off the property.
I would definitely come back again!

Perfect Getaway

I stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights in May. Although the weather wasn't as warm as we would have hoped, we still had a very memorable time here. The property is so big, i loved walking with my coffee down to the water every morning (my dog loved it too!) The house is very clean, and has so much natural light! Plenty of room if a second couple wanted to join us. We had wine on the beach for our own happy hour (had the little beach to ourselves). We felt very safe at this 'off the beaten path' feel to the location of the house. Its only a bike ride away from town, and a short drive to Peconic. We hope to stay here again in the near future!

Paradise Found!

Before I tell you about my trip to the Cherry Lane Farm, you must promise not to say a word to a single soul about this place. Okay? Okay! While perusing the internet, I happened on the listing for this lovely place and immediately knew I had to make a reservation. My instincts were right on! Cherry Lane Farm is a treasure! The grounds are amazing. The views are spectacular. The place is spotlessly clean, warm, and charming. The Gate House is small, but we managed to fit in six adults at one time, and it worked just fine, in spite of the one bathroom. There is a delightful stone patio right outside the back door with hammock, barbeque, and porch furniture. There is a beach...a beautiful private beach. There is a lawn that seems to go on for forever. A kayak, a canoe, and then there is Pat Nelsen. What a terrific guy Pat is. He makes this special place even more special. We could spend hours talking to him. He is so kind, engaging, and refreshing. The farm is only a few blocks from the Town of Greenport, but we felt as if we were miles from anywhere. Once we passed through the stone gates, we felt as if we had left everything behind. The views and the grounds will take your breath away. They did ours. The pictures tell some of the tales, but not all of them. I could go on and on, but I want to leave some surprises to be discovered. If you are fortunate enough to spend some time at this lovely place, you are lucky indeed. Just remember your promise to me.

Dream come true

Cherry lane farm is a step back in time to old Long Island the way it used to be. The juxtaposition of history and nature of a Long Island gone by is a rare experience. I wish I got to learn more of the history of the farm and family. I will be going back.

Best old fashioned summer ever - 10 yrs now!

Cherry Lane has become our home away from home. It is a special place our family has grown up loving - & kids have loved it at EVERY AGE from 2-13! It's easy, relaxed, beautiful, simple. Lots of bbq-ing, swimming, relaxing, biking or walking into town (easy & fun for the kids!), chatting with other guests & Pat. We have also gone deep sea fishing, wine tasting, berry picking. There's as much or little as you want to do. (I spend every morning on the beach with my toes in the water, sipping coffee, relaxing and recharging:) PRICELESS! We will miss Cherry Lane this summer as family plans will take us abroad but we'll be back for sure!! You want to be part of this special place.
