We had a different vacation scheduled this year, but thanks to Covid, we had to change our plans. This rustic cabin was available when we wanted, wasn't as expensive as some, and was right on the water. The surrounding area is very quiet. You can sit on the porch, watch the sun set and listen to the lapping of the water and the crickets. There is a small town with a general store if you forgot something.
We rented some kayaks plus played games and took some day trips to Fort Ticonderoga, Cascade Mountain for a hike, Lake Placid, and Ticonderoga to the Star Trek Original Set. The owner has some games there, plus a few books if you forgot one.
The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook and eat with. We cooked most nights, made brownies for snacking. Charcoal grills are available. You can make a fire ring on the beach area if there isn't one there already.
You will need to bring things like paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, dish detergent, kitchen towels and potholders, bath towels/wash clothes, hand towels, grill tools, charcoal. Some of these items might be on hand, but not guaranteed.
I will say there is no WiFi, no TV, and cell phone coverage was spotty. The lack of WiFi and cell coverage was seen as a drawback to my two teens, not to me.
