Moon Over Moose is a luxurious, five-bedroom log home vacation rental privately located on the meandering Moose River. It can accommodate 10 guests. An ideal location, guests can walk to the shops and restaurants in the center of Old Forge, New York in less than ten minutes.
Its big handcrafted logs welcome guests as a comfy home away from home and from there guests have easy access to all the Adirondack Park has to offer. Moon Over Moose is a marvelous, hospitable vacation home, completely in accord with the mountain landscape all around, its log walls and peaked roofs brushed by high pine boughs. Inside there are five distinctive, comfortable bedrooms, four bathrooms, and every modern convenience. Wood floors and tile throughout, mountainscapes and framed art hanging on the walls.
Throughout the day, golden light fills the cabin’s rooms, and there is a constant feeling of spaciousness and peace. Just beyond the light-filled entryway, the living room awaits you with a stone-faced gas fireplace, home theater television with surround sound and high-speed Wi-Fi. Tall windows frame the Moose River and trees outside – seasonal art in themselves, ablaze with color in fall or garlanded in snow. Sliding doors open to an outdoor living area with outdoor dining, Adirondack chairs, a fire pit, and the fresh balsam air of the forest.
Moon Over Moose is as suited for relaxing after a day of hiking, biking, kayaking, paddleboard, and golfing (to name just a few) as it is for high-style entertaining. Full sets of table linens, china, crystal and flatware are at hand, and the dining room table will easily seat eight with additional seats at the adjacent game table. With its stove, full-size fridge, dishwasher, and an array of gourmet cooking equipment, this luxury Adirondack Mountain rental property can accommodate cooking enthusiasts or a professional chef.
The room has an open layout and a prep table that make meal preparation easy and communal. Just beyond the kitchen is a covered porch with a gas barbecue grill for cooking in the open air. This main level also holds a charming light-filled log bedroom with a queen bed and easy access to a full bath with walk-in shower.
The upper level holds the cabin’s spacious bedroom one with an ensuite bathroom. A rough-hewn, log frame queen bed and vaulted ceilings await you. Comfy seating and a desk overlooking the Moose River for those dreaming of a quiet and contemplative space for writing. Relax and unwind in the spacious jetted soaking tub or walk-in shower as you gaze out at the treetops!
Bedrooms two and three share a full bath with a tub/shower on this upper level. Each bedroom has one queen bed and an extra twin bed off to the side - so each room could comfortably sleep three tired adventurers. Bedroom two overlooks the Moose River while bedroom three has a cozy window seat – and both have comfortable seating and reading lights for those seeking a quiet spot to relax. An alcove at the top of the stairs is the perfect meeting spot for a spontaneous game of cards!
Moon Over Moose’s lower level is where guests will find some of the home’s great diversions: a game room with a pool table and foosball table, lots of board games, and a framed poster of the Adirondack High Peaks, just to whet the appetite. The guest room has two log twin beds, standing side by side. A bathroom with shower and washer/dryer are on this floor. A bright sun-filled walkout is just steps away from the comfy television and media area!

Moon over moose amazing stay
This property is beautiful. The place was spotless. Towels and linens requested were available upon arrival. We enjoyed kayaking, hiking, walks to town.
There were eight of so everyone had their own bathroom. We played pool. Cooked our meals in the well-appointed kitchen and had a great family family vacation.
Paul, the owner, was very responsive and helpful with all our needs.

Moon Over Moose
First and foremost, the house was so clean. Everything inside and outside was top of the line. The distance from the house to the quaint town of Old Forge was walkable. The Moose River ran outside the back of the house where we were able to kayak from, in addition to kayaking in other beautiful lakes nearby. The owner and his caretaker were always available if we had any questions, etc. The overall beauty of Moon Over Moose was incredible. No complaints what so ever!

I stumbled upon this property back in 2022 while googling places to rent in the Old Forge area. We have stayed there several times since. We just returned from a 4 day stay at this property. Everything was perfect as always. The accommodations are immaculate. Such a peaceful location. While there is a lot to do in Old Forge, just staying at the house is all you need. The house is clean, inviting, and cozy. We look forward to renting this house every year. You cant go wrong. The owner is accommodating and cares about your time there. No stone left unturned. We are looking forward to our next adventure there!

Ultimate Cabin Experience
The Moon Over Moose property offers a genuine log home stay with all the comforts of home. The property has an absolutely stunning view of the Moose River and is also conveniently located close to Old Forge. The owner, Paul, works to provide you with a true Adirondack experience. The outside includes a high end firepit that allows you to both enjoy the evenings on the river, as well as, drinking your morning coffee with a view. The property also has several kayaks that allow you to explore the waterways nearby. This is the second time I have rented this property and each time just seems to be more impressive to me. We had a power outage this trip due to a accident in town and the owner worked to keep us informed and ensure our stay was just as comfortable. We were in the park during the eclipse weekend and Paul had provided us with ample warning that Old Forge may be a bit busier then usual.
This year we did the Llama tour at Moose River Farm which I highly recommend. The owner is knowledgeable and works to make it a very unique experience. You will walk away from the tour with a fantastic photo shot off your family. We also went out to Billy's Italian Restaurant on a recommendation. The food was amazing and the family atmosphere made all feel welcome.
The Moon Over Moose is a welcoming home that includes everything you need to have a memorable vacation. You could simply stay at the home and play in the game room, relax by the fire pit, or take a kayak ride. If you are looking for a luxurious log cabin experience this is the place to stay.

Making Memories
Our family has been making memories at Moon Over Moose since 2017!
We come with our children and grandchildren and from the youngest in our family to my husband and I, we are sharing memories from the past year as we make plans for the coming visit.
Paul and Jill have the cabin filled with everything you could possibly need to feel at home. Paul is always available for any need or question you may have.
The cabin is a work of art. It is impeccable and spacious and provides places to either be alone or gather together with the group for meals, games or movie night!
We have memories filled with love and laughter making meals and savoring them, walking downtown to peruse the shops, having coffee at the Blue Line coffee shop, sitting around the fire pit and enjoying s’mores, playing games, doing jigsaw puzzles, challenging each other over a pool game, enjoying the deer, playing golf at a nearby course and so much more! Each moment is precious!

Blessed Retreat
There’s no better place to be than spending time with family enjoying the beauty and nature around you in the heart of the Adirondacks at a cabin in the woods nestled beside a serene river. We were so blessed to be able to stay for our 5th time in 6 years at this property. Not only do the homeowners keep up the property impeccably but they have also adorned its walls with relics and framed memories from the area’s historic past. They are continually improving, if even possible, both the interior and exterior, adding to its already home sweet home charm. Just a short walk or drive to downtown Old Forge, it is secluded and quiet but also conveniently located to the stores, shops and restaurants nearby. At the end of each visit we are already counting the days to our next. You certainly will not be disappointed to spend time at Moon over Moose!

A perfect getaway in the heart of the Adirondacks!
The cabin is a beautifully maintained home that offers a cozy and comfortable stay with plenty of room to spread out. The attentive hosts ensure that every need is taken care of. The cabin’s location is ideal for those who love to explore the outdoors. Imagine getting up early to kayak on the Moose River, followed by a leisurely stroll into Old Forge for food and shopping. We’ve been vacationing here for the past three years and are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended!

Top Quality
This was our 10th year staying at Moon Over Moose. The owners maintain the property extremely well and they are proactive and responsive. The house is clean, and the layout is perfect. There are comfortable areas to gather for group meals and games. There is also plenty of room to spread out if someone wants a little space to read, nap, watch TV or play pool. Wi-fi access is good. We love to cook our meals and appreciate the fact that the kitchen has every cooking utensil needed and a nice grill on the patio. The setting on the Moose River is awesome with beautiful views, a firepit and access to kayaks. A nearby pedestrian bridge provides a scenic walkway into the village of Old Forge for a daily walk. Every year, we find interesting things to do in the area. Nearby you can find golf, mini golf, hiking trails, rail bikes, boat rentals, shopping & swimming. It is an easy day trip to drive to the Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, The Wild Center in Tupper Lake and all the impressive venues in Lake Placid. When the weather gets cold, the house has a cozy fireplace in the living room and there are many outdoor activities. In addition to hiking, downhill skiing and snowmobiling, there are beautiful snowshoe and cross-country ski trails. We enjoy skiing in remote areas and have done night skiing at Adirondack Woodcraft camps. Everyone in our group truly values our trips to Moon Over Moose. This is a top-quality rental that keeps us coming back.

Tenth Year and still the best
We have been visiting Old Forge with our golf group for 25 years, and for the last 10, we have been staying at Moon Over Moose. Every year the accommodations have some new and improved features as the owners continually update the facilities. The location is great for families as well as mature groups like ours. It's close to golf, the water park, McCauley Mt., and everything that the Adirondacks can offer. Best of all, the hosts are great people. We highly recommend it as your base in Old Forge.
