Hal and Betsy Forsland are a retired couple with a large family. We use the home all year with the exception of 3 weeks of rentals in the summer, to help with expenses. It is our happy place!
My wife and I were looking for a waterfront house on Paradox lake large enough for our kids and grandchildren to have our own space while affording us comfortable space to come together. This property worked out wonderfully, plenty of comfortable bedrooms, a bathroom on every floor, a bathtub to clean the little ones after a full day at the lake. Spectacular views of the lake from so many areas of the house. All of the living space flows so nicely from living room to dinning room to kitchen to screen porch to deck so you always feel connected without feeling crowded. Beach is beautiful, quiet corner of the lake. We all had a great week, wouldn't hesitate to rent again.

To celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary, my husband and I wanted to find a place where our grown children and our grandchildren (14 people in all) could enjoy a week in the woods and on the water in Upstate New York. Betsy Forsland's home on Lake Paradox seemed to fit the bill when I found the website, and in reality, it was just about perfect for us. This was a first time lake rental for us, and I appreciated that she was there at the house when we arrived to give us a thorough orientation to the house, the waterfront, the features and the quirks. Our kids tell us that this was unusual, but I can't imagine not having it. Betsy was great to work with, by email and in person. Very business like. Her family's home was big and comfortable, giving the six children lots of rooms and beds to play in, and the adults comfortable beds and privacy. Her kitchen had everything we needed. The little beach had many kayaks, floats, water toys, a swing set....we spent many hours down there messing about on the water. We hiked the woods, explored the lake, played endless board games and generally had a wonderful time. There were no issues except minor ones and lots of happy memories. Highly recommended!

Eleven family members stayed at this lovely home and enjoyed every minute. The location is wonderful and easy to access. No crowds or noise to deal with, the area is quiet and peaceful. Plenty of space in the home and everything we needed was provided except the owner requests you bring your own towels. The private beach was great and we all spent a lot of time there. The kids loved the kayaks, canoe and rowboat. Overall a wonderful vacation getaway with beautiful views that I would stay at again!

We rented this property last summer with a large group of friends and had a blast. The cabin itself was beautiful and very clean. The deck is HUGE and offers an amazing birds eye view of Paradox Lake. The cabin almost sits in the canopy of the forest on the side of a hill, so you have to walk down to water level to get to the private beach at water level. The beach had chairs to sit in as well as kayaks and canoes to use which was great. There is a screen room you walk through to get to the deck which was nice for rainy days or when the bugs were a little over bearing. Every room had a fan in it which was great to keep the air circulating. What was great about this property, for our group of 10 people, was we could all hang out together in the dinning room/living room area comfortably, but if anyone wanted to get away for a little bit there were plenty of places to go to be by yourself. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. She met us on the day we checked in and gave us a full tour of the property, and was even available throughout the week when we had questions. Even though she only rents the property for a few weeks a year it was super thoughtful of her to go above and beyond in preparing the house for us - everything was super clean, there were brochures on things to do during the week, DVDs to watch on rainy days, ect. Schroon Lake is a cute little town to visit that has a grocery store, liquor store, gas stations, ect. Lake George is a short drive that has a ton of fun stuff to do if you need to get out of the house for a bit. We ended up doing the pedal car tour on the old train tracks in North Creek which was fun. Also had to hit Tubby Tubes in Lake Luzerne. Lots of trails to explore and a few Fire Tower mountains nearby. We've been renting cabins for about 10 years every summer and it is hard to find such a beautiful property, that has such great accommodations and an owner who gave a nice personal touch. I would highly recommend staying at this house to anyone.

My extended family and I (11 of us total...5 kids and 6 adults) stayed in this beautiful home with last week and we all loved it! The owner met with my parents when they arrived and took them on a tour of the home, explaining everything that we needed to know for the week. She also checked in with me mid week to make some suggestions for local rainy day activities. Everything we could have needed was there in the home for us to use and enjoy, even a large selection of board games and cornhole boards out on the deck! The views from the deck and the beach are amazing and we enjoyed hearing the loons throughout the week! The private beach was great for everyone, with plenty of chairs, tables, a hammock, a swing set, and a fire pit which we enjoyed almost everyday! We took fishing poles (the owners also have some available to use) and fished everyday from the rowboat, canoe and kayaks. The home was a little hot at times without air conditioning, but the owners provided plenty of portable fans to use and there were nice breezes coming in thru the many windows. Overall we all had a great experience staying at this beautiful home!
