About Donna & John Clark
Donna and John Clark began their lodging business in 1994 with one room in their home which they converted into a bed and breakfast room. Now, almost 20 years later, along with some of their grown 7 children and 16 grandchildren, they own and manage 12 bed and breakfast rooms and 4 waterfront vacation rental homes. It is a family business that has brought joy to their family as well as to the hundreds of vacationers who have stayed with them.
Donna & John Clark purchased this House in 2005
Why Donna & John Clark chose South Colton
The privacy of this property is unmatched with its 16 acres of waterfront grounds; large groups are free to enjoy their vacation without fear of disturbing neighbors. It is a recreational paradise with pontoon boat, unlimited boat gas, kayaks, paddle boards, waterfront hot tub, lit volleyball court, adjacent game building with pool, ping pong, shuffleboard, etc.
What makes this House unique
Built and equipped for large groups. Ultimate privacy. Many facets of recreation on grounds and nearby. Close proximity (1/2 hour or less) to St. Lawrence University, Clarkson University, and 2 SUNY schools make it a resource for conferences, visiting sports teams parents, etc.
4 miles away is Higley Flow State Park with sandy beach. The Beaver Pond Nature Trail has interpretive signs that describe the six distinct habitats through which the trail passes. Hiking trails double as cross-country ski trails in winter, when snowmobiling, snowshoeing and ice fishing are also allowed.
beautiful lodge and location. perfect for family get together we really enjoyed our stay

We had a wonderful week at the lodge! The amenities were great, the hosts were immediately responsive to all of our needs. The kitchen was very well equipped. A lot of places say that so we brought a lot of our own but we never unpacked them. Didn’t need to. We had 9 kids ranging in ages from 7 to 16 and there was something for everyone. We went to Higley beach on day and that was great! There was even a scavenger hunt game the hosts left for us. The kids had a blast with that. Thank you for a week of amazing memories!!

Hands down great property. There is an impressive amount of detail in the design and decor of this space. The wide open full story ‘great room’ really makes the space. Rustic log cabin w/ modern amenities. The WiFi is via satellite and is spotty, but to be expected for a remote location. Rarely will you find a rental that includes a small pontoon boat, which was perfect for fishing. When there was a problem w/ the outboard engine the owner came & swapped it out quickly, no problem. There were so very many details that were thought of that it’s unrealistic to ‘have it all’. If I were to make suggestions for fixes it would be to replace the kayak seats (or bring your own), some dock repairs, replace railing around hot tub, and replace pool cue tips. The reservoir water level went down18” during our week - be very careful using the boat when the water is low - lots of rocks & stumps in places.
One more thing - expect bugs. Prepare accordingly. They do have an excellent fire pit.

Great place for the whole family to unwind and enjoy each other's company. Kids had a blast swimming, trying out the paddle boards, and fishing - no electronics needed! Adults also had a great time fishing, kayaking, and exploring the lake. Cabin had everything we needed and we enjoyed playing the game to get the prize. We took a day trip to nearby Tupper Lake, to visit the Wild Center. Kids and adults both loved it. Highly recommend! Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing week!

This is a gorgeous property. There was plenty of room for all of us, as we had multiple family units present for the week. Even on the rainy days we didn’t feel as if we were on top of each other at all. There’s a game cupboard with some basics, cards, and puzzles. We did bring a pile of our own board games as well.
The cove area was perfect for my 9, 10 and 12 year old to kayak and paddle board with relative ‘freedom’. Life jackets are not provided, so don’t forget yours! We also loved fooling around in the pontoon boat.
The kitchen was ridiculously well equipped. I don’t think there was one thing we ever didn’t have while cooking/baking and we cooked every day.
Overall, we would be thrilled to return. My only suggestion to the owners would be to consider blazing a trail or two right on the property, as if you want to do any real hiking you have to take a short drive. Not a huge deal by any means but I would have loved not to leave for the entire week!

This property was amazing! The property was beautiful and secluded for a perfect long weekend. The amenities of the house were more than enough to make for a great weekend for 16 adult men. The only issues we had were that the gas for the boat was not filled initially (handyman came to bring more), the dumpster had not been emptied before arrival (not a big deal), the yard was covered in goose feces (nobody's fault), which we cleaned up on day 1 and had no further issues, and the dock was under water after the water levels rose. The yard and hot tub were awesome as was the game room. We used the boat to go fishing and the area was beautiful. We would definitely return.

The lodge was fantastic. Exactly how it was described ... peaceful tranquil . We hiked Lampson Falls, Stone Valley Trail and Harper falls. Just gorgeous photos. We fished up the road .. caught walleye . Saw a loon while out on the boat and a beaver .
The lodge was perfect and the owners even left us a bottle of wine! So thoughtful .. will rent again~ thank you for sharing

Donna and John's cabin was absolutely perfect for our yearly gathering of childhood friends (now in our 30s). The cabin itself is beautiful, comfortable, and a wonderful space for relaxing, playing cards, cooking, and generally hanging out. The game room has everything you need for a rousing night of competitive table games. We got a ton of use out of the beach volleyball court. The location is perfect--right on the water, far away from the world, but only 5 minutes to the general store. We would love to come back again!

We loved staying at the cabin. The kids had so much to do from the minute they woke up and the setting was beautiful. Also your quick response to any issue we had was much appreciated. Can't wait to come in the warmer months and stay longer. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Thanks Donna! What a wonderful place this cabin was to spend the weekend with friends. We were very comfortable and stayed at the property the entire weekend. Of course our first night in it snowed over 12". This place turned into a winter wonderland. We spent quite a bit of time outside playing with the dogs and taking photos. The entrance was plowed quite early in the morning so nobody would have been stuck. Things we enjoyed most were the open floor plan and living space so we could all play games and hang out together. The fireplace was quite cozy. The cold weather did not keep us out of the hot tub. So nice to relax in the outdoors like that. Thanks again to Donna and John for providing us with a place to make memories!
