Our cottages are on a gentle slope leading to the private sandy beach, campfire area, garden, flat play area, and safe, quiet cove. Our rocky "point" is a favorite spot for swimming, enjoying a panoramic view of the lake, and gazing at spectacular star filled skies by night. Each fully-equipped cottage has a view of the lake; some are so close to the water that you could drop a pebble into the lake from the decks.
Our guests enjoy use of kayaks, rowboats or canoes, at no extra charge. To promote quiet and sustainability, we do not allow motor boats, and our cove is the quietest occupied spot on the lake.
Local points of things to do include Lake George area attractions, charming Schroon Lake village, historic Ticonderoga, beautiful sites in Vermont, such as Middlebury and Burlington. The nearby hiking trails, pond, lakes, and other outdoor adventures are too numerous to mention! For some of our guests, being at SunderLand, enjoying the lake and the grounds, spending time in a beautiful, natural setting with their families, and meeting other guests on the beach or at the campfire, is the best part of their vacation.
All cottages are fully equipped and comfortable; each cottage has a lake view. It is a perfect setting for groups of friends and family who want to vacation together , with each group having a private cottage. We have been in business for 69 continuous years, and have been managed by 3 generations of the Sunderland family. A friendly member of the Sunderland family lives on site to ensure your comfort and to provide information about local sites.

SunderLand Cottages was purchased by William and Ethyl Sunderland, our parents, in 1950, and has been in business since that time. Now managed by 2 of their daughters, Toni and Susan, and Toni's husband, Rick, and with the help of some of their children and grandchildren, Sunderland welcomes new guests as well as those who have returned every summer for 2 and 3 decades, bringing children and grandchildren! The Sunderland family spent summers at the cottages since 1950, and consider it home. We love the peacefulness, the quiet, the sounds of friends playing, talking, and making music together. We try to be thoughtful about our use of the unique environment; care for this precious place and its guests is foremost in our efforts.
