About Jan Ferry-Axman:
I am the youngest of 4 siblings who own this cottage. We are a large and loving extended family and this was Grandmas and Grandpas cottage until 2010 when they passed away leaving it to my Brothers and sister and I. We are owners and already were sharing with one another and now YOU! Watch the video on this site if you want to see me, specifically. I live in Rochester NY and love sharing our cottage and helping people find the many fun activities around the area.
Jan Ferry-Axman purchased this Cottage in 1982
Why Jan Ferry-Axman chose Sodus Point:
The Ferry family is large and close-knit. Our parents purchased the property over 30yrs ago with the idea of fixing it up for retirement. Over the years we have loved visiting and over 30 years we have become a pretty large group who has spent a great deal of time trying out all the activities and restaurants in the area. Two or the four siblings who own the cottage live locally near Rochester but our larger family is spread from San Diego to Fla and NYC. We all LOVE to come back to Sodus and bring our many kids and now grandkids.
What makes this Cottage unique:
The Sprongs Bluff area, a small cove set into Lake Ontario, is remote and beautiful. We love that we have a huge lot, beautiful sunsets and LOTS of space. The little set of cottages here are completely surrounded by NYS forever wild parkland. The old GirlScout camp next door was also purchased by NYS and turned into Beachwood Sate Park. We have a private path leading back there. Beachwood has Maxwell Creek running through it as well as Maxwell Bay. This makes for great Canoe and Kayak trips into the Maxwell Creek area. Bald Eagles nest on the point and beauty and tranquility surround you. Lastly, when you want to eat out, get a fishing charter, enjoy a drink and entertainment, walk a sandy beach and long pier a quick 3-4mi. drive to Sodus Point and additional fun can easily be had. Also, we are about 3-4mi. in the other direction to Sodus village for a post office, grocery store, library, bank, and more restaurants. We think we have the perfect spot to enjoy peace, beauty quiet and a just about any fun activity.
Well of course I love this home. It is mine and I have done nothing but improve it. But I stay too and VRBO gave me a chance to review it I will take it. This is a chance to say -- I rent my sisters next door too if you need more room. And Hey keep us in mind we are open year round! And winter can be fun sit by the fireplace and watch a movie, play cards/games w/friends. Simply a peaceful getaway! or try ice fishing, snowshoeing, or snow mobiling.....I can set you up with a ice fisherman if interested! Jan

From start to finish we had a wonderful experience. The setting is amazing - secluded, peaceful, & right on the water. We loved kayaking, roasting marshmallows over the campfire, hiking & enjoying the rocky beach. We also visited the lighthouse museum, the sandy beach @ Sodus Point, and the local farm stands. We also rented a pontoon boat one afternoon to see the bay. The trip was wonderful: relaxing, informal, & with time to enjoy one another & reconnect as an extended family. We recommend the cottage highly.

As we entered the cottage it was inviting and comfortable. The view is breath taking
As a welcome there was a pumpkin spice loaf in the refrigerator from Burnap’s farm. We had everything we needed, extra blankets, pillows and towels. We just left and on our ride home, we were planning for our next trip back to the Cottage. We didn’t want to leave. It was so peaceful. We had a great time! Thank you Jan!!

Everything was convenient and easy to use. Our group was 10 people and we all fit in the house quite comfortably. The location was beautiful and couldn’t have asked for better weather. The kayaks and paddle boat made for good fun. The grill was clean and provided us with the bulk of our meals. Jan is a terrific host and communication was easy and effective. Loved the place, WILL be coming back!
