Charming 2-bedroom cottage located on a family-owned waterfront estate that was converted from a circa 1920s chicken coop. This retreat has inspiring views of Shelter Island, NY and is only steps away from the peaceful waters of the Peconic Bay. Described by as 'one of the last saltwater farms,' the estate is not only picturesque, but is also an exemplary model of a traditional working farm. Gentle breezes off the bay keep the house naturally cool, so air conditioning is rarely, if ever, needed. Lots of room indoors and out makes the cottage both kid- and pet-friendly. The deck and sprawling lawn make for a great place to entertain friends and family, or the perfect spot to lie back, relax, and relish the view. Stroll along the estate's expansive private beach or have a picnic overlooking the water.

The beautiful tree-filled grounds complete the pristine view of the bay and Shelter Island, making the estate an artist’s paradise for all seasons. The cottage is quiet and secluded, yet within easy walking distance to Greenport Village, offering the best of both worlds. With a strong nautical history, Greenport, NY is a water-lover’s paradise and the perfect destination for sailing, boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Mitchell Park Marina is just a short walk from the estate and provides transient slips by the day or week.

Please call in advance for reservations to secure your spot. While downtown in the village of Greenport, explore the local boutiques and stores. Take advantage of the history-rich Railroad, Stirling–Ireland House, and East End Seaport museums. Ride the antique carousel, or take a tour of the harbor on The Glory, an electric launch. Sample the local bounty from land and sea in a variety of restaurants offering casual fare to award-winning dining. Tour the over 42 vineyards located here on the North Fork. LOCATION LOCATION

lStunning location with waterviews to die for overlooking Peconic Bay. Family and pet friendly and a very clean beach type cottage with the most comfortable beds. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Owner very helpful.

Stepping back in time

Staying at Pipes Cove felt like the kind of vacation I had as a kid in the 1970s in all the best ways. I had never been to the New York coast before, but I like to imagine that this is what it was like before the Hamptons became a thing. You can do as little or as much as you want and it was the perfect relaxing break for us while figuring out how we were going to travel after COVID. We booked for next year already.

If you’re the kind of person who expects mints on the pillow, a welcoming cocktail, and high thread count sheets, this is not your place. But if you just want to get away from it all, have a little peace and quiet, and enjoy the flexilibity to do as little or as much as you want, stay here.

And the host is the best value-added amenity of all. Let him show you around, follow his suggestions, and you’ll have the best time ever. Thanks so much, Pat!

An oasis away from it all...

This was truly a great vacation! Pat Nelson was a terrific host. The property was so beautiful! It was very private and quiet, with no cars or people walking by, but a short walk or bike ride to town. We kayaked at the beach and the dog went swimming, made a fire on the beach at night. We cant wait to go back!!

Chillin' in Greenport

We had the best, relaxing long Labor Day weekend. The Chicken Coop has a laid back atmosphere. We were looking for quick access to Greenport Village and the Peconic Bay. We could not have been happier. We're so happy with our stay that we have plans to return next year. Thanks Pat Nelson for everything!

Perfect Summer Getaway

We had a wonderful time at the Cottage. The incredible view from the master bedroom of the marshlands coupled with one of the most comfortable beds we have slept on at a vacation house over the last 15 years made for a relaxing and restful vacation. Pat was an amazing host (we happened to arrive the day before Tropical Storm Isaias hit!) dealing with prepping the property for the storm followed by a power outage, he did a fantastic job of helping us weather the storm. It is a busy property with 2 other rentals on the farm however we were able to socially distance and enjoy the land and beach without worry.
The clawfoot soaking tub was wonderful too. It was a perfect summer getaway.
