Hello! Welcome to our Island View Home. We have two wonderful weeks left for our 2023 season!
June 17-24 and June 24-July 1. 7 night minimum.
Key points about our home:
Directly on Lake George. Literally steps from the lake. Faces east with amazing sunrises and moonrises.
We live locally and are here for whatever you may need. We have been renting our home for over 20 years.
Island View is a 2 family home. There is the lakeside house and a small apartment. The two units can be rented together.
Our beautiful wide dock is shared. We keep our boat there as well as a friend. All boaters are load and go only and do not use dock or property.
8 guests maximum including children/babies.
ISLAND VIEW HOME AND PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Our Island View home is directly on peaceful Northern Lake George in the beautiful hamlet of Hague. Lake George is known as the 'Queen of American Lakes.' There are majestic panoramic views from every room. Inside or out, you are literally steps from the lake. Here you can relax and forget the rest of the world.
This is a two story house, with the living/dining area and kitchen on the first floor, and three bedrooms, a sleeping/lounging porch and 2 bathrooms on the second floor. There is a large brick patio, and an 8 foot wide dock. The patio has 2 tables, comfortable outdoor furniture, a gas grill and an outdoor fireplace. A rack of wood is provided for campfires! The entire property is beautifully planted with flowers. Boat docking for a small (18-20 feet) is reserved for your use. There is a marina one block away for boat rentals. Our dock is shared with the owner and 1 other boat. The boat dockers are strictly 'load and go.' They do not use the dock except to access their boats. They are very friendly people, and respect your privacy.
We are a one block walk to Hague Beach, boat launch and park, which is a great spot for swimming, picnics, etc. There is a lifeguard on duty at the Beach. The Hague Market, a unique Adirondack General Store, and the Hague Firehouse Restaurant are a short walk away.
The first floor consists of a great room living and dining area. There is a queen-size sleep sofa in the living room. The entire lake side of the living/dining area is glass windows overlooking the lake. There is a dining table seating 6-8, and a fun restaurant style booth that seats 4. The living area has a 28 inch color/cable TV. A highlight of the living area is a beautiful stained glass window, as well as the spectacular views. The living/dining area is separated from the kitchen by a great bar/breakfast counter. This is the perfect spot for eating, or relaxing with a drink. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size stove and refrigerator, dishwasher, as well as a microwave oven, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, electric griddle, and all basic cooking and serving utensils. Upstairs the master bedroom is a large room with a KING-size bed next to a huge picture window overlooking the lake.
Relax while listening to the sound of waves lapping the shore! The master bedroom opens to a balcony overlooking the lake. This is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise, or catch a spectacular moon rise across the lake. The balcony is rimmed with flower boxes. This room also has a dresser, and a sitting area with 2 chairs. There is a large closet. The master bedroom has a large private bath with tub/shower. This room also opens to the sleeping/lounging porch. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed, as well as a dresser. This bedroom faces the lake. Both bedrooms are air conditioned, and have TV's. A third small bedroom has a double bed, and a lovely lake view. This bedroom is not air conditioned. There is a delightful sleeping/lounging porch, ringed with windows overlooking the lake. This room has a double bed, a desk and a small table and chairs. This is the perfect spot for lounging, reading, and relaxing. This room is accessed through the master bedroom or second bedroom. Everyone loves this room! The furnishings are Adirondack 'lodge' casual but comfortable. Games, puzzles, cards, etc. are ready for the kids.
The entire lakeside of the building is the Island View Rental. The front (roadside) of the building has been transformed in 2015 into a great little apartment, available separately, or together with Island View, as available. This area used to be our Gift and Antique shop, "Old Glory." "Island View 2" is available for rent daily, weekly, or for the full season, from early June to mid September. If you have overflow guests, please consider availability at Island View 2. We live in Hague, and therefore are nearby to assist you in anyway you may need with household needs, travel/tourist advice, etc. Our guests enjoy the personalized service we are always happy to provide!
Quoted rates are for a 'housekeeping unit' meaning that there is no daily maid service. Maid service can be arranged if desired. Tenants are asked to bring their own sheets and towels. Plenty of pillows and blankets are available. Linen/towel service may be arranged if desired, or if you will be flying instead of driving.
Beach towels are not provided. No towels are to be removed from the premises. There is no washer, but laundry service is available if requested. A laundromat is located in Ticonderoga, where you will also find groceries, gas, banks, and other services. Parking is provided for two vehicles. If you need more space for an additional vehicle, boat trailer, etc, please let us know and we gladly make arrangements. No RV parking is allowed. No guests are allowed to sleep on boats. Boat trailer parking may be off premise at a private location, based on our determination at the time of your arrival.
There is no smoking inside the building. NO PETS.
ABOUT OUR TOWN: The hamlet of Hague is a tiny, lovely Adirondack village. While staying at the Island View you can walk to the 'Oldest General Store in the Adirondacks.' There is a small family restaurant with a bar. (Open Seasonal) You can also walk to our beautiful Town Beach and Boat Ramp. Hike to our Hague waterfall, or enjoy other hikes on nearby trails. Three churches are within walking distance.
Other restaurants are located in nearby Ticonderoga. Fort Ticonderoga, Saratoga, Lake Placid, and Vermont are all easy drives away. There is an Amtrak Railroad station in Ticonderoga, with daily service to New York City. If you need transportation to the train station we can provide it for you.
Our Lake George vacation rentals offer a three season paradise! Spend the summer on the lake swimming, boating, and water-skiing. Fish for Bass, Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon. Enjoy spectacular fall foliage. History, scenery, hiking, art, antiquing, museums and shopping are all nearby, while you enjoy the peace and serenity of the Adirondack Mountains. We are one hour north of Saratoga, famous for horse racing. Ticonderoga is 10 miles away, with Fort Ticonderoga and access to Lake Champlain. Vermont is a scenic ferry boat away.

We are honored that many of our guests have chosen to return to Island View for many years, and have become treasured friends. Four generations of our family have been spending summers on Lake George for almost 100 years. We live in Hague, so we are nearby to help with anything you need during your vacation. Why Sandra Rust chose Hague:
The northern part of Lake George is the most beautiful part of the lake, as it is quieter and slower paced. Bruce grew up camping on the nearby islands with his family, and it is a dream come true to have the good fortune to call a piece of Lake George home. Hague is a wonderful town to spend a day or a lifetime. We count our hospitality as well as our home’s cozy warmth and location directly on Lake George as the main reasons people love our Island View Vacation home.
What makes this House unique:
Our home is located directly on Lake George. The house sits less than 10 feet from the lake! The views are breathtaking, and the lake is spectacular anytime of the day or night. Gorgeous sunrises and moonrises are not to be missed. We are just minutes by boat to the wonderful Waltonian Island group. We love being able to walk to the town beach for summer concerts, the Hague waterfall and brook for peace and serenity, and the Hague General store to meet friends, grab a cup of coffee, pick up supplies and maybe a great pie! Our outdoor fireplace is the perfect spot for ending your day relaxing under the stars.

Exactly what we were looking for!
Perfect cabin on the lake is exactly how id describe the Island View home. It’s in a quiet location on the northern part of lake George and I feel like we couldn’t have picked a better spot. My husband , myself and our two kids ( ages 5 and 1) came up to the lake Columbus Day weekend to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage , do some hiking, and just relax indoors by the lake. We lucked out and had perfect weather all weekend. The hiking around the house was close by with many trails to choose from. We love renting cabins in the woods and the inside of this house felt just like that only we were on a lake! Every little detail and decoration in this house was cozy and inviting. We loved sitting at the bar looking out at the lake and I personally loved the little booth they had tucked in the corner. It was also so lovely to wake up to the view in the master bedroom.
We drove to dinner in Bolton landing two of the nights. It was about a 20-25 min drive but very relaxing and scenic with the turned leaves.
Sandra was such a pleasure to rent from. She gave us very detailed instructions on how to get to the cabin as well as many dining options around Lake George. She is also very helpful with all the little details about the town you might not think of before arriving. She loves her town of Hague and it’s easy to see why!
This was our first visit to Lake George and I think the fall might be the best time to come! We can’t wait to return and will definitely be looking to rent from Sandra again. It was exactly what we were looking for!

A Gem of A House!
This is my second year at Island View!! Bruce and Sandy (owners) have made a comfortable retreat from the rat race of everyday life. There is nothing derogatory I can say, they have it all covered. I am looking forward to another relaxing week on the Lake with my family again next year.

Island view is utterly unique. Too many charming features to count. Right on the water of Lake George with a wharf. Beautiful flowers, a firepit with plenty of wood, great location between city beach and commercial marina. Owners, Bruce and Sandy, were charming and responsive to any and every need. What a great vacation!

My friends and I have stayed at the Island View for years and have never been disapointed. If you venture out on Lake George or drive a few minutes to Lake Champlain or do some sightseeing, it's nice to know you have a clean and safe home away from home to come back to. The owners make sure your stay is the best it could be. If you find yourself vacationing in Hague NY, stay at the Island View. You'll be glad you did, I sure am.

Our Fifth Year!

This is our fifth year at Island View and I can't say enough about it! The house is clean, charming, comfortable, and always welcoming. The view of the lake is breath taking and just beautiful - especially when the sun rises through the bedroom window in the morning! The flowers all around the property add to the beauty of the lake and make you feel like you're in a home away from home. Sandy and Bruce have made us feel welcome since our first visit and have since become good friends. If you're looking for a peaceful vacation in a beautiful spot - Island View on Lake George is definitely the place to go! And if you want activities - there's plenty of that too. Fishing, horseback riding, hiking, boating, kayaking - to name just a few - are all within a short drive from the house. This place has it all! We just love it!

Highly recommend staying at the Island View! We have stayed with Bruce & Sandy for many years with our family and we loved every minute. You couldn't ask for two nicer people to rent from they are the best!!! They spoiled us so much we had to buy our own house on Lake George so we can see them more often. I give the Island View 5 stars!

If you looking for a Grade A vacation rental cottage on the quiet end of Lake George, it doesn't get any better than this. I can't imagine anything more that these wonderful hosts could provide to make your stay more enjoyable. The cottage was everything we were looking for with regards to comfortable living space, amenities, and its close proximity to the lake. The property is everything it is described to be on the VRBO web site and then some. The extra bonus one gets when staying at this property is the 4 star service provided by the owners, Sandra and Bruce Rust. The willingness of these owners to go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible is commendable. Our only regret is that our week long stay went by much to fast and we have to wait another year before we can return.
